When I read things like that other thread, it just makes me sad, really. People quote things like this :

"What a queer thing is Christian salvation! Believing in firemen will not save a burning house; believing in doctors will not make one well, but believing in a savior saves men. Fudge!" Lemuel Washburn

and agree with it. Truly when people have this mindset, all I can think of, is they truly don't get it. and it IS sad. You don't put faith in humans, you put faith in the one true LIVING God.

i would much rather die doing something I believe in, than something random. But I can understand why unbelievers can't understand this. Because they think this is all we got.

The are people with their eyes closed to the Truth. They have made their final choice. It is sad, but bumping heads with them will only leave you with a sore head. In more ways than one sometimes. :/

Thanks for posting the Truth Deb, and for standing by your beliefs in this gentle way. :D

Awesome post Deb! I hope it speaks to someone who needs to hear it. Jesus IS the only way to the Father. Believing in GOD is not good enough on it's own...you hit it all on the nail. Thank You!

Living by faith can be a scary venture at times. God promised to get you across the sea, He never promised it would be an uneventful ride. People tend to lose faith when the going gets rough and their prayers aren't answered. They forget that what they think they want and think they need might not be what God sees they need. Their prayer was answered...they just didn't like the result!!

Great post...thanks for sharing with us!!

As you said, believing in them does no good. It is only when you call on them that they can help you. And, so it is w/God. As I stated from James, the devils believe, and tremble. But, they will never call upon God to save them. It is only when someone is willing to admit that they cannot save themselves, it is only thru the grace of God that any of us can be saved, and are willing to call upon Him, that they can be saved.

I tell others-not because it helps me to get into heaven, I cannot work my way there-but because I care about others, and do not want them to be eternally lost. But, I cannot make the choice for them, nor can I force them to make this decision. Nor will I harp on it. Then it becomes a case of casting your pearls b4 swine. But, I will continue, w/God's help, to live a life that is God pleasing. It does not mean that I'm perfect, nor does it mean that I'll never sin again, but I know that I'm forgiven, and will spend eternity w/God.

And I will also challenge those that have beliefs different than mine. Not to prove them wrong and me right, but so that we can all grow. If you tell me something about God, you'd better be able to back it up w/scripture. I don't want to hear that this is what your pastor told you, or your church teaches, or you read it in a book or whatever. If it's not what the Bible teaches, you will not EVER be able to convince me that it's true.

DD, great post! I feel your sadness when nonbelievers mock God. It almost feels shocking to me when someone does it....I guess that is because I would never dream of doing it. No more than I could dream of killing an innocent or hating my fellow man.

But...do you know what I have come to believe about those who offer such vigorous insults against God? I think those individuals doubt their own beliefs, fear our certainty and the insults are like whistling in the dark when you are a young child.

If you show your bravado by insulting God, then the stories just may not come true....you can maybe convince yourself they just can't come true. If you can succeed in that then you won't fear death and the following Hell for nonbelievers.

But way down deep, down at the kernel of their being, they know what we know. Every human is born with a knowledge of the Creator...something that pulls them back to Him. All that fighting and spewing of insults? Just rebellious children who want their own way and don't like authority.

Children who lack maturity and may never get it in this lifetime. Sad? Very. They say with age comes wisdom, but I have learned sometimes age will show up all by it's lonesome.

Bee, I was thinking along the same lines recently. I really wonder at times about the people who say they don't believe in God, but are so vehement about any mentioning of Him. If they don't believe in God, why does it matter so much to them?

And yes, it does make me sad to think that those I love and care about may not be w/me in heaven. But, trying to force them to accept Christ will do me no good. Instead, it will just push them farther away. So, I'll continue to care for them, pray for them, and leave them in God's hands.

Sadly most of them will eventually get THEIR way. :(
