really make you wonder?

I am cutting my phone/cell/internet/cable bill by about 1/2. Yea cable will be less stations, etc but who cares.

I am going from about $220 to $110.

I chatted with my neighbor yesterday. I said cable was coming out Thurs to see if they would run a line to my house from hers. She was surprised it wasn't done yet either lol

I said you have Charter...what you paying?

$225 per month !! She has it all. DVR, HD, prem. channels, and internet

YIKES---then she has 4 cells with Verizon. $200 per month. YIKES

I gotta say---$425 per month for cell, phone, internet, tv

I just smiled...inside saying HOLY COW!

I chatted with Tony later that evening. I said, do people really pay that much per month? Do ALOT of people do that? He said oh yea, people pay thru the nose for things like that....I just shook my head.

NOW don't get me wrong, pay what ya want, do what you want with your money. But for little old me, that monthly bill sent my head reeling LOL

Unbelievable!
I'm agonizing over how to cut my 50 dollar a month land line phone bill. My cell phone is provided by work and a digital antenna provides all the TV I care to watch. I refuse to pay them to feed me BS. I basically tune in once during the evening just to make sure the world is still there. :D
I could think of a myriad of ways to better spend that much money, but hey, to each his own. :idunno

Yes FC--even what you pay makes me shake my head in disbelief. :p I pay$68/month for phone and internet. And my kids cell phones are $20/month for the two of them. Hubby and I buy pay as you go cards for our cell phones, for both of us we use about $75/year. We pay $7.99 for netflix per month. No cable or satellite.

you must mean my before cost....when I total yours, you are approx. $113 per month.

in the end I will be a tad cheaper and have 600 tv channels. LOL

but remember, while tv is important a bit to me, to hubby it is a God....hahaha

we only have one cell. I don't ever want one, Nicole is 6 and will be a long time til she gets one.

money just goes in different directions to pay for different wants...:p

Do other's bills boggle my mind? Absolutely...and I keep telling myself that it's not my business, but......

We have sorta friends that say it costs them $7500 a MONTH to live. No, they don't have the huge house, but they have gobs of bills, play the credit card shuffle all the time and her frig is packed with take out containers. Occasionally she trashes all of them and starts over. Drives me nuts. (Once again, it's none of my business....repeat.) They both are 65-ish, so time is not on their side, you kow?

Every time they stop by, they tell us we need to buy this or that, or hire whatever done so we can get on with our lives. Uh, we are, and without the debt that they have.

WOW WOW

nice income definitely but unless you are truly in 'the location that costs a ton' I can't see it as a requirement to survive...LOL LOL

absolutly...i also understand its also regional...

my bills in terms fo "unneeded" stuff isnt too bad right now because im all promotional prices...once the first year ends those will go up quite a bit but shoudl still be managable.

when i compare what it costs here at my new home compared to the cost in CT for the exct same things, even during promo periods there stil paying almost double on most things.

No, no, this is in the middle of Kansas!! I think the median income around this area is something like $27K a year?

What brought the whole subject up was recently when they were at our house, the guy said he was looking for a better paying job. I said my goal was to be able to live well on $1K a month. Holy cow, I got blasted - all in that 'you poor dear' tone. I guess they think I'm some kind of 'tard, you know?

(I didn't say that I 'could' live on that, I just would like to. I figure off grid, SS lifestyle, etc..it's do able.) But they didn't ask how or why, they just pretty much told me that I was a moron. I kinda think I don't like them anymore.

My goal is to live pretty well on about $2000 a month... without being off grid, but being as self sufficient as possible on our little plot and having as little debt as possible (hopefully none). In april we make our last debt payments, then we will own both our vehicles and our house and I can't wait. We like our internet and tv, and I'd like to be able to drive where I want when I want without worrying too much about how much gas costs, within reason.

We don't have cell phones, and our tv and internet and land line phone costs are about $110/month.
