I'm prone to little bursts of cranky complaining.

I have my fit, then i'm over it and I make an effort to rearrange my attitude.

So Im tied to some problems that just have to be tolerated.

but as a whole, I choose the path. Or I live someone elses life.

Not an option anymore. Life is too short and I'm on the down hill side.

How did you convince hubby to move to the country?????
I'm 54 and he's 62.. He says it would be alot of work..
It was the lure of us building a new house, and the kids all telling him to give me what I want. He had very specifics as to where he would move, couldn't be more than 30 miles from where we were living then, couldn't be more than 30 miles from our grandson and had to be on an asphalt road, not too far from a town of some size.

I'm sure he thought that I'd never find a piece of property that was affordable that had all that, but I did. It was a pretty rundown, trashy old homestead, weeds 8' tall, etc and we bought it cheap enough. He flat hated the property the first year. We'd just drive out on the weekends and clean up, etc. One day he stood in the back field, looking around and said it was pretty nice out here. I was shocked.

I was 53, he was 58 when we bought the property. We lived in one room of the new house that had no drywall, a bunch of space heaters, but hey, we had a flush toilet! He's 63 now and like I said, we work pretty hard, but we also sit a lot when we want to. We took the time to get a garden going and built a coop, you know, fun stuff (????) besides working on the house. We have hired very little of the work done, so the house has been a major project.

Thank you... The house we live in now was bought right before we got married in dec. 2003... We have done some of the work on it ourselves and the stuff we could n't do we paid to have done.
He would like to buy land and have house built... I'd like to have the land with house already one it. He is great at building the pens for the ducks and the chickens.. He has built both night pens for them.. I'll keep looking .. If I find something that we both like whether it be land or land with house it will happen... there just only so much you can do when you live in town...

I think one can choose to be happy in just about any circumstance. When I was young I thought life was all about me and bad things happened TO me. Now that I am old I know that life just happens and how you choose to view it determines if you are content or not.

What a relief and the loss of a heavy burden to realize that life is not about me and it never was! What I did learn is that life is about love....how much you give, not how much you get. Sort of like Christmas! :)
