"Oh, you are calling about the Johnson's? They just bought a helicopter. How cool is that?"

Oh, Yes I now the Johnson's they are the nice couple always burying things in their yard.

I have heard of the American Community Survey (census) people asking neighbors for detailed personal info about their neighbors too.

I would not give information over the phone, that is for sure. If someone wants information from me, they need to show up in person, with the proper credentials. JMO. Even then, I will only give them vague information, if I think it is relevant.

I have also had a government employee (forgetting their credentials as this was over 5 years ago now) asking about our neighbor who was in the military. Seemed to check out, but I only told them as much info as I felt was relevant . . . . I didn't say anything about the Halloween party I went to at their house. LOL That was classified neighborly information.

You sound like my Hubby....he would totally do that!
