I am inclined to agree with the yeast.
Spike is a silly cow dog that got a lot of snow in his ears during the blizzard.
I used olive oil to clean his ear to loosen the crust. I did flush them with vinegar/h2o solution too.
If it is yeast, I wonder if Yeast-guard would work.
Vet is closed till Monday.

I'd be inclined to run down to the local market and see what kind of ear flush they might have. Many markets have a generic ear cleaner. That would be better than something that leaves the ear wet. It should have a little alcohol in there, but I'd be hesitant to recommend a ratio of alcohol to water, I really don't know. But I see why you were trying to de-grease, it is very gunky in a dog's ear when they have that kind of stuff going on. If you have cotton balls or gauze and he lets you wipe them out and clean it well that would be good. Try not to let him flap his head around. If he won't stop, bandage his head so that his ear is flapped over the top of his skull and flattened to his head and air can get to the ear hole. Don't let him continually shake the head!
If you have a petsmart near you you could probably get something good to clean the ear with.

My groomer, also the senior vet tech at a local vet hospital, suggested Monistat for yeast infection in the ear. I have poodles and just checked Biscuit's ear with this thread reminding me.....yikes! Crusty! It happens so quickly! And he wasn't scratching. Sheesh. Off to get the ear cleaning stuff.
