You set the date, I'll be there! The Bat and I could come and then go visit her sis, who lives in Warsaw.

Set a good time for next year's meet and we can organize it, have it, post the pics and a blow by blow of how fun it was......then next year more people would come and so on until we had a regular thing going!

I could see your sheeples!!! :D We could swap canned goods, homemade bread, perennials and seeds...you name it, we could barter. We could barter for some of Ann's honey. Depending on the time of year, someone could bring a pig to roast or even one of my whether rams, if I have one ready.

How exciting! :weee Hey, start a thread!

I love Hot Springs Arkansas! Used to vacation there every winter break. Stayed at the Velda Rose, they even let me bring 2 St. Bernards with me! It wasn't the oldest hotel, but it was the only one that let me bring my dumb old dogs. I did love it, and the fact that it is still stuck in that awesome 60's decor made it 10 times better!

It is so beautiful there and the hot springs bath house we would go to was out of this world, old and slightly mysterious, but definitely a part of history you don't want to pass up.

Happy belated birthday Dragonlaurel! So you are a September Libra? My daughter and my birthday are this Sat and Sunday...she was my birthday present 13 years ago. :love

Take care!

:frow :) Big Brown Horse - Happy Birthday to you and your daughter!!!!! :love :) Hope you both have a great day. I was on the 30th.
Is the Velda Rose one of the old Victorians on the hill? I see the old bathhouses all the time. Some of them are gorgeous.

Justusnak- Your place sounds great. A SS meetup would be really fun too.

Thanks!

I think the Velda Rose was built in the 60s. Where an older one once stood.

The bath house where we went was one of the origianl victorian ones and it was one of the only ones that was still hooked up to the naturally hot spring water.

There is a cigar shop across the street that is part of a great german restaurant. I love to smoke cigars, so once a year I would allow myself to buy just one to smoke one the balcony of the Velda Rose. :p Havn't had a good cigar since I moved way over here!!

My husband knows where the bath house is. Glad you enjoyed yourself.

Every time we drove through Hot Springs, it seemed to be under road destruction of some kind. It was almost like being in Ohio! :D

ETA: Happy Belated, BBH! Hope you and your daughter had a grand day!

I live in the old part out town up against the mountain and forest almost, so that road work doesn't affect me much.

Your not belated, it is next week, but thank you!!!

I loved hiking those trails Dragonlaurel!!! And the tiny pottery "factory", I have a very small collection of Dryden pottery. I could only afford the ones on the imperfect-discount shelf. Nobody notices the bubbles in the glazing if you turn the vase just so.

There was a wonderful deli that we went to that was featured on the Food Network...they used their address as their name, wish I could think of it. Tons of cool artists live there and they also have a to die for family owned waffel house...did I mention that I love Hot Springs?

I can walk across the apartments parking lot and get to one of the mountain trails. It makes apartment life easier to put up with.
I've been wanting to check out the Dryden pottery factory. My brother poured ceramics for a hobby and I helped sometimes, mostly to learn how. I don't consider pottery defective unless there are cracks or stuff that keep it from being useable. Little bubbles and stuff like that just give a piece character.
My husband likes to go to "The Cheese Corner" but I don't know which deli you are thinking of.
