Oh I would love donkeys but I cannot trim hooves.... Closest reliable farrier is about sixty miles away.... Thats why I want know the pros and cons of LLamas

Bruce on BYC has Alpacas. His are not very friendly b/c they were not well managed when they were growing up (before he got them). How bout a big LGD?

I would like to have both.... But the LGD has to be a short coat...

a larger Goat would be good... My original goats were both Nigerian Dwarfs and Pygmys. My pygmy was an escape artist.... LOL. He was like a mini Bull dozer....

I would look at a couple saanen wethers, they get big and dairies sell them for crazy cheap in the spring as bottle babies

Consider an Akbash LGD. Their coat can be short to medium-length or long.

Don't llamas also need their hooves trimmed, as well as their teeth???? Quick google search indicated that teeth need attention if they are overgrown, or misaligned, causing damage to the palate or cheeks, BUT, some alpacas never need their teeth trimmed.

I could do their hooves.... Same equipment as goats... as long as they were happy about it. The teeth need special equpment but I am assuming that this doesnt need to be done often?

Ok Read the article... it seems Alpacas need toe be tended more often... but I have had horses more than fifty years and in their case the vet Floats (smooths out) their jaw teeth if needed once a year. Depending on conformation. Nowadays there are equine Dentists... Some vets take extra training in order to "cross pollinate" The suggestion was to use an equine dentist to do the job. to avoid issues caused by the trimming (sharp teeth digging into the upper palate)

I can haul the Llama out in the horse trailer once a year... For necessary routine exams and or dental work. Just not once every six weeks which is what horses need.

Oh hes handsome.... I was also thinking of Kangals they too have a shorter coat.

There is a breeder here that crosses them with Aussies. Kangals would be good with the people that cross the border here.... But I dont want anyone hurt. Pure breds are big...

I am also in love with Swissies.... And English shepherds I have a swissie cross right now... Sweet dog BIG Bark Great walking door bell. Mine looks mostly like the one below without a curled tail. Swiss mountain dog crossed with some sort of bird dog... her tail is straight her leggs are wite speckled but she looks an aweful lot like the dog below
