Unfortunately, no. I am originally from Illinois,- south of Moline, but north of Peoria. I came to Missouri for college and haven't looked back!
I scored a pretty awesome Craigslist deal today. A 1 1/2 year old Royal Palm tom and a 3 month old hen, both for $30. I haven't had the greatest luck with turkey poults this year, we had a sneaky stray cat that was getting into my chicken house this summer and eating the babies. This went on for nearly a week before we could figure out how he was getting in. Of the 3 remaining that weren't killed by the cat, a coyote got 2. So I've had one lone turkey for the past few months. She was pretty interested in the new additions, so hopefully everyone will get along just fine.
Does anyone else here have turkeys? I am amazed at their personalities!
We've had a lot going on around here. DH has been on strike for the last 2 weeks (and I was just starting to enjoy it!), but they signed a ridiculous contract last night and he goes back to work on Monday. In January he will be taking about a $15,000 pay cut (and so will everyone else, obviously) but the other drivers caved because they were out of money. AFTER 2 WEEKS! And they've been talking about striking for MONTHS, so it's not like it was completely out of the blue. So we pretty much agreed that he has a month to find another job.
We've been working hard to pay off debt and save money so that I can stay home with our future kids. We also are trying to get the house fixed up so that we can move in a couple of years. I absolutely hate the location of our house, we live at the intersection of a busy highway and a road that the trash company uses as their truck route. It's loud and I constantly worry about animals getting out and getting hit.
On a happier note, I think I have one horse sold and a trade going for another. I'm hoping that everything works out!
wow that is absolutely horrible at his job. that is a huge pay cut. and only after 2 weeks everyone caved? sounds like alot don't have emergency funds built up for this kind of trouble.
being around alot of traffic is always a worry for kids and animals. I hope it works good for you to move in a few year!
I got 2 dairy goats this weekend!! Worked out a nice trade with a woman - a pony for 2 bred nubians. They are due in Mid-May and I can't wait to have little goat babies
I'm trying to upload pics, but my phone is being dumb and not sending me the pictures....but I will as soon as I get it worked out!
Spice has a bit of an under-bite. It wouldn't hardly be noticeable except for her pulling her bottom lip down to show it off....I think she looks like a grumpy old man without his dentures in!
