I heard about it o the news. But I didn't feel it!! :p

Ahh a 5 pointer. You'll survive. Unless it was really shallow. Then it may have caused some damage.

Any military testing in the area? How about dead fish or birds?

Don't get me started.

Understand all the memorials and the mall are closed, and the cathedral was damaged. Everyone ok?

Colorado just had our largest earthquake since 1967 ... down near Trinidad, south part of Colorado. Preliminary magnitude of 5.3. Hit at 11:56 p.m., last night. Luckily I didn't feel it but my critters seem a bit restless today. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/08/24/us/24earthquake.html

WZ: you're closer to Trinidad than I am. Feel it?

Karen your soooo funny!!

Actually my kids felt their first big quake a year or so ago. We all just happened to be standing around in the middle of the day. They thought it was really cool. I think it was a 4 something. We were in Mo. when the 7.0 hit two years ago.

We felt it here in New Brunswick... several office buildings and public places in our capital city were evacuated because it's built on clay and not at all earthquake resistant.

aparently the rumble i felt in my zipcode was a 3.0 there abouts, with most of ct feeling a 2.0 or less...

i do know that for this area a 3.0 is a BIG shaker lol, and the 5.8 in Va is aparently one of the biggest theyve had from what ive been hearing/reading...for this general area, this was acutally a pretty big quake!
sure all those folks who get the big ones are laughing at the east coast right now...but still, gotta remember were flat out NOT prepared for the ground to move, we dont have the precautions, building code ect that is in eathquake prone areas...so while somwhere used to big ones would laugh in the face fo an under 6.0 quake, for somewhere Not prepeared for that sized shaker it could have done alot more damage than is being reported.
