Buster--who are you talking about opposing it? The Pork Producers?
That and the American Farm Bureau, which has basically become a shill for Big Ag .

Pork production isn't polluting as long as it is done right. But factory farms create giant manure lagoons with high concentrations of amonia, antibiotics, pathogens, nitrogen (in toxic levels) etc. The "farm" then spreads this mess on fields in concentrations far too high, the mess dries, and the dust is blown across the countryside.

The stench near these farms is unbearable. Neighbors in the area can hardly breath if the wind is blowing in the right direction. People have developed breathing disorders, allergies to antibiotics, and have developed sores that are not easily treated.

So, yeah, I'm for regulating "farm dust".

I've heard about that on NPR. Sounds disgusting. Factory farming is a real problem for the environment. I don't see a realistic solution though. Small farms just can't meet the demands. That go's for protein as well as vegetable production. We live in the country and we have so much dust it screws up the computers. I have to pull the cover off and blow the computers out every month or so Otherwise the video card overheats. The solution would be A/C, but there are only about 10 days a year we actually need it. I know from experience that once you have A/C you tend to keep the windows shut and the A/C on. Our avg electric is already 230 a month. Don't need any more money going to the power company.
