You'll want to deworm her right away if her eyelids are pale. The hormones of kidding can cause the worms to bloom and if she is already low.....

Very cute boy! Love his little earlets!

Thanks Free. I also checked with Blackbird. I guess I will contact the vet tomorrow first thing. And get a fecal and maybe do another worming (molly's). In the meantime I keep offering her good stuff to eat. And she did eat her "kibbles" and I milked her again. I am still getting used to the idea, that we may have purchased our last gallon of store milk for a while!!!!

DD is really happy too. She loves that she can fed her baby good organic food. She knows where it came from and knows that we care to feed him well.

What will you do with the buckling? You should be able to get some milk from her right along....but if you pull him right away, you can sell him and keep all the milk for yourself. Sounds a bit heartless, but one less mouth to feed.....and money for grain for the doe. I liked keeping the babies for at least 2-3 weeks until they are eating solid food.....oh, who am I trying to kid! I just liked the babies! :p

I plan to keep the buckling until he is weaned about 8-10 weeks and then sell him for meat. I should have no probem finding a buyer for him. We want to enjoy his cuteness. We will also get more money for him, when he is a little bigger. I am glad he looks so much like a boer, who happens to have little ears. His ears are cute. They are not as tiny as his mom's, which is good, because I always have to clean her ears out. I love it when he wiggles his ears. I can already fel his horn buds.
He and the grandbaby made friends today. It was too cute. I didn't get pictures, but his dad did. I hope to get copies.

Flower is being a good aunt. Little Bud also tried to check out the red broilers that are in the pasture, but they ran away...

It was nice to sit out there this evening with the family and everyone got along nicely. Grandson even got to ride on Flower for a short distance. The goats are just great with him. Blossom and her baby didn't mind us all petting him and holding him. She just wanted to get some petting herself. Flower thought it was just grand, that we all came out to see her and scratch her back. She has been feeling a bit lonely and neglected lately. Being part Nubian, she has quite a way of letting everyone in the neighborhood know how she is feeling. :p
