The recipe called for rolled oats--can you use steel cvut or shoud I use rolled. I have both, and I think I will make it for the kiddos tomorrow. Approx how long on the oven time?

Right below ya in WA state! ;) We get great wild beasties, don't we? I'm making sourdough as we speak!

I ran to my cupboard to look for my can of steel cut oats and it is gone. I must have used it up and forgot to replace it. I am going into deep dark depression now that I can't make your cake recipe tomorrow morning. :(

I put my black beans in for a good soak instead. :p
I hope you can make it soon!
Also, you might be able to tolerate soaked oats just fine.
With the acid reduced/eliminated, they are much more digestible.

Rolled. Steel cut will still be a bit crunchy!
Not sure how long. Less then half an hour for sure.

I don't have kefir or raw yogurt. Would buttermilk work?
Ideally it would be cultured.
Cultured yogurt will work as well.
Buttermilk you buy in the store is not real buttermilk.
Its usually just 2% milk with bacteria added to slime it up.
But, if it does have cultures in it, it will do the job!
