Lady, one sentence struck me as particularly meaningful in that article: "In fact being overweight can itself be the cause of inflammation."

I had radiation therapy about 20 years ago and ever since then I've had muscle pain that the doctors can't figure out....I gave up even mentioning it. I'm about 40 pounds overweight. When I had major surgery five years ago, I lost 30 pounds very rapidly. The muscle pain went away! Life being what it is, I eventually gained the weight back (thanks, stress-inducing daughter!). The pain came back, too. I don't think it was a coincidence. I'm currently on a healthful weight loss plan, in hopes that a trimmer figure will lead to reduced pain.

Sorry to hear you had to have radiation. I hope all is well. Good to hear that you are looking for a healthy life!

I know a little bit about diets and being overweight! Our entire family is overweight; we have the fat gene, I guess. My heaviest weight was more than 400 pounds. I am half that now, after 25 years of dieting. It feels great ! Good luck on meeting your goals.

The tendinitis, etc., began after I did extensive clearing of brush last summer, including cutting down five trees and reducing them to firewood, clearing out several truck loads of brush, then weeding, leveling and preparing for planting a total of 5000 square feet in garden area. For example, yesterday I cleared a couple more flower beds, moved some bags of manure, weeded, and planted. Today, the back of my left thigh is hurting, my hands are quite swollen and I can't bend or straighten the fingers on my right hand into more than a claw. There does seem to be a demonstrable relationship between activity and pain, especially in my hands. And the fact that I have typed for a living for 32 years doesn't help !!!

I am most disappointed that I can't use the chain saw any more. I have a lemon tree to take out. The last three times I have used it, I have gone blind in my right eye for a couple of hours. Basically, everything is black, except the reflections off chrome or glass. I am guessing detached retina. It's pretty scary, so I am trying to find someone who wants a lot of firewood!

Back to my job...typing. Wish I didn't have to use the index and pinky fingers so much !

Best of luck on feeling better. Sounds like you have really been through the mill !

Well, in the delightful way of bodies, being severely underweight causes quite a bit of pain and inflammation too LOL.

A lot of my pain cleared when I finally managed to start gaining weight.

Isn't it amazing, the complexities of these vessels?
