For Ladies: Quick Project to Recycle T-Shirts

I've been looking for more ideas to recycle clothing. When I get the chance to do some more sewing I'll share them. With the price of fabric being so darn high right now, recycling clothing is very appealing to me. If I want to make a shirt from scratch, it gets very costly. But, I can buy a big bag of clothes at the thrift store for ten bucks, and then just modify or alter them to my tastes.

I have been making diapers for my brother and SIL who are expecting out of old clothes, especially T-shirts that have seen better days or have shrunk;). I like the off the shoulder shirt, but unfortunately, I too would scare racoons and other assorted critters. Not as exciting or fun as the T-shirt you've made.

What I've been doing is winging it. I cut off the sleeves. Then cut straight across at the collar.

The new straight line "top" is under the bust. I cut open the sleeves and sew them together and they are the bust. Then I just shape it. Add straps. Done.

There are some great walk throughs though.

I've got the t-shirt book. I made 1 shirt from a pattern for my daughter and realized converting t-shirts was much easier...I LOVE recycling and hate taking too much time to make something - this book and all the ideas are great.
