Hi FF. I'm relatively new here. I hadn't read your profile before, so I read page 1, then skipped to 2012, then current. Really interesting journey you're on! Not many are all over the country like you are. I've been all over too, but I think we might be settled now in northern Alabama. You're way ahead of my on ss skills though so I'll be looking forward to reading more of your posts. Welcome back.

Thanks Mini Horses! Got the profile updated.

Have you been in Virginia awhile? We've been here almost two years. It's pretty similar weather/gardening wise to what we had in Kentucky so it wasn't a huge shock from Idaho.

I take it you have mini horses?

I've lived in VA over 65 yrs....LOL...…came here with dad being in the Navy. And the area here in Hampton Roads is good, mostly. Weather is normally not extreme for long, most of the time. Besides...beaches a couple hrs away, mountainous, couple hrs away. Longer growing season. Green grass. Big cities and small towns all over. Many historic sites quite close. Yeah, pretty good area, IMO.

Have had, raised, shown, sold (as in a business) minis for many years. Started early 90's. Now, no breeding, just letting the last of my old breeding herd live out their lives with me. Sold off all the mini donks waaaaay back and all the meat goats. Just the dairy goats now...chickens, geriatric minis. And ME :old

Glad to see you now claim VA in your location. :celebrate

FarmerJan lives in VA, also. Up toward the Chalottesville/Roanoke area, in general......pretty county!

Hi FEM! Well, I don't know if it's an upgrade or just more space = more work:lol:

We are excited to be more out in the country though. We have about 2 acres of cleared land and 2+ of forest. I'll try and get some pictures posted soon.

One of the things I love about our new place is the trees. We have a huge old (4ish) feet across oak tree "Sherman" on one side of the house, a huge silver maple "Sylvia" on the other side, and "Maggie" the Magnolia in the front yard.

There's also Crepe Myrtle, Ash, elm, pine, Sassafras, dogwood, redbud, Holly, boxwood, and cedar in the yard. There's a bunch in the forest I still haven't id'd yet too. It almost feels like the house is in a park.

There is poison ivy like crazy though. One of the trees behind the shop has a 10 inch diameter vine on it :barnie.

Oh, that's another blessing! MyT man now has a 3 car garage for his shop!

@milkmansdaughter thank you for the warm welcome. I look forward to catching up on your SS journey as well.

I was blessed to have been raised in the country and grew up with animals, gardening, preserving, camping, etc. It's been fun learning how to garden in different areas but I'm looking forward to settling down here for awhile!

We lived in Birmingham for about a year and a half when we were first married. AL is pretty but it was too hot for me!
