Free is that your carpentry? I mean the..hmm I am not sure what is it called, the A frame anyway is just wow.. awesome. The round pen is just for now? Or will they be moved to graze in this pen, and the wire is "just in case"?

That A-frame turned out just perfect. You guys did a great job.. I have read so many things about pigs "on or off" the ground. This set up give you the best of both worlds. It must be roomy in there for you to have gone in and taken the view picture. :p

Now I guess my only question. Will the pigs potty in there? Or will they come out and pick a corner like a rabbit does?

Just wondering. I can't wait to show your set up to my husband.

My dad did the bulk of the work, with my dh's help on the first day, my help on day two. I stained it and built the pen with dh's help.

The round pen is for now, until they recognize me as their beloved food provider and will come when called. This way, if they escape, I have some hope of getting them back. I may leave the round pen in place for securing them if needed later, like if I need to work on the fence or their pasture for any reason. And for processing day, so one can be confined and his/her view blocked of the sibling's death. At least that is what I am thinking.

So far, no potty in the house!

I got a nice GENEROUS box of lovely avacados in the mail, and most are in the fridge. Two are ripening on the counter. In the pig excitement, I forgot about them! Imagine that! Thank you SO MUCH!

They are harder than what I see in my grocery. Are the skins thicker? Will they feel as soft as grocery store versions when they are ripe? I can't wait to devour them! I like to cut them in half and just eat them with a spoon if they are extra special....no diluting these beauties with strong flavors like peppers or onions. They must be tasted and savored on their own..... :drool

I picked them and put them in the box all in one day. When I ripen mine I put them in a brown bag in the cupboard for a few days. I am not to sure about the fridge. I have never needed to extend their life. :idunno I am pretty sure they are Hass.

I hope you enjoy!!!

We are having major computer problems here....major!! So that is why I haven't replied to much. Been reading....can't always reply, and I get kicked off a lot. I've been writing my bigger journal entries on Word and then copy/pasting when the computer lets me! :barnie

The pen is about completely plowed up now...gotta get a picture of that! And they are still only eating maybe a half pound of food a day between the two of them. They look good, though, and have dirt well past their eyeballs, so they are also pig-happy!

Oh, and I bought a bag of pig starter pellets and they refuse to eat them! I've tried them dry, with milk (slurped the milk, left the mushy pellets), with whey, with water. Waste. They love corn fermented in whey and a bit of sprouted barley, and today they got a chopped half of an apple. They must be finding stuff in that dirt still!
