It's a nice reality check to see that my kids are not the only ones without TV's and laptops in their rooms lol.
I usually cover the clothes and that type of stuff. But my kids have to pay their own way on electronics and a few other things. I think they take care of things better when they have to earn all the money for it.
I also made my daughter pay half of the orchestra fee last year (it was about $250.) I just wasn't sure that she how interested she was. It turned out that she really enjoyed it, practiced a lot and did very well. Was that because she invested in it? I don't know. I'll probably cover the fee this fall though. I'm not sure she has the cash
