I've got a lot of Bermuda....and a bit of bahia, some dallis grass and unfortunately, an invasive sedge that grows in the wetter areas - but when it's dry - the goats will eat it. At some point I'm going to have to address it. We have clover that comes back when it's cool but it's not cool anymore, lol. Pre-goats we had lots of dewberries and blackberries on the fence lines... not anymore.

it is too bad you can't have a fence around a fence to let the goats keep all of it clear. but then you have to have even more fences around the fences...

True! But, I don't ever want to build a whole perimeter fence again as long as I live! Of course it would be smaller than the previous one....and all others would be smaller yet, LOL!.

Whoop! Little Corona - pygmy buckling - has gone to his new home! AND....drum roll...the 6 other bucklings should all be going this weekend. Much better place for them than the "dealer" who wanted them. This guy who is getting them knows nothing - but he needs to fulfill his ag requirement of having livestock on his acreage.

I was a little concerned when he told me he doesn't live on site. It was a red flag until he explained to me that they will be on 20 acres with 8 foot game fencing all around. They will probably live out their natural lives there. He would take some females also - but I just can't see selling him one or two females that will be turned out and living with 6 bucks! Kiko does would probably be fine - but I can't see Nubians living in a 'hands off' situation. With 20 acres these guys should have plenty of browse and will probably not need much maintenance (even though he has feeders). And, the area that he's moving them to is much better for goats than here. It's hilly, rocky, and dry - perfect goat habitat. I'm tickled!!

Sometimes it pays to be picky!

GOATS!! I swear their mission in life is to climb every fence you have or they find....it's like an LGD who thinks they need to patrol "all they can see". You just shake your head at these traits for wanderlust. That said, I have 2 heavy milking does whom I could free range...they stay near because of the feed bucket at milking!

Grats on the sales, FEM. Buyer will get his AG covered and probably doesn't even realize they will have the rugged property in "park like" condition soon. Bonus.

Less mouths to feed is nice. Feed bill should go down. And, it's hurricane season starting tomorrow.....ugh. Supposed to be an active year and there's already a little something, something out there. So, I bought a big a$$ Generac 17,500 watt generator. I already have a 6500 watt generator, but this hoss will run the whole house.

Is this on that is connected and self starts? That is huge! I'd love one but can't justify cost because I actually have never had that much outage. I have a big 10,500 and a special plug in at the meter -- installed by electric co-op. Convenient and a compromise. Had that installed 6 yrs ago & never have needed to use it. Lucky.

Better watch my mouth the way this year is going!!

FEM, does it run on propane? We had a small generator in Livingston that ran on gas. LOL when there is no power, there is no gas either. Duh.....

It isn’t the automatic one- it’s a huge gasoline powered portable. Would have preferred diesel but couldn’t find a portable diesel thispowerful.

We tossed around the idea of the ‘built-in’ model. One of the major reasons We chose not to go with the automatic one is that most of them run on propane or natural gas, and we’re all electric. No natural gas here. The added expense of bringing in a propane tank, having it set up, and filled with propane would have added greatly to the cost.

We’ve had a smaller one all these years, that can plug into the house after shutting off the main breaker. It’s a 6500. It will run our water well and several appliances but won’t run all of them together at the same time. We won’t have to worry about that now.
