When I sold my horses, placing them in good homes was more important than the money I got for them. I more than suspect it will be the same for you when placing your does. It's not about the money.
I have a set of twin lambs now, the ewe lamb is spoken for, the ram lamb will go to auction. I'm taking 4 sheep on November 20, he is 2 months old today. Younger than I like to take them, but I have 3 ewes due in December, by the time their lambs are ready to go to auction, the ram lamb will be 5-ish months old and I don't want to keep him that long, not worth taking just one either. So he's gotta go. Sometimes we make those hard decisions. but like you say, it's easier when you haven't had them very long.

some days you just don't have the time to decide, or not in the mood. Have one nice, young doe I'm selling simply because she's such a jumper! Another, simply not attached to, same age and don't need her. Two more, same deal. Maybe 3 yr olds. Not their fault, decent does. Right now I see hay money for the keepers. Auction this Saturday, soooo... probably going before I change my mind. Not best time of yr sale wise but, oh well.
Darn!
