not much rain here either the past few weeks. a few cold nights, but not much rain. hooked up the hoses today so i can water if i manage to get anything planted this week. still too early for warm weather crops (even if this week is supposed to hit mid-80s) i don't trust it a bit. just peas will go in and i hope i can do that sometime the next three days.

Still dry, dry, dry. I'm trying to remind myself that we're usually wet, wet, wet so I should enjoy and capitalize on the difference. I can add water to the garden, but I can't take it away if I've got too much.

We're in an all out war with fleas right now. DH cleaned off the back porch yesterday and sprayed it. I'm waiting for an order of nematodes that eat flea larvae. Used them some years ago when we had a terrible flea year and it seemed to work pretty well. I don't really want to spray the yard with insecticide - but I will if the nematodes don't do their magic this year.

Heard some ridiculous blurb about something tropical that may develop later this month. How rude! I'm not even ready to think about "h" season, but it's almost upon us. Feels pretty good to be prepared. We won't be ones standing in line at the grocery store or the gas station. All gas cans are full for the gasoline generator. All propane bottles are full for the propane generator. All I really need to do is move the necessities into the storm shed.

Dishwasher just finished so it's time to get jars out and get busy filling 'em.

Happy Sunday ya'll!

Whew... just got finished filing my tax protest. What a PIA. They're trying to tell me my house is worth 77K more than it was last year. What is wrong with these people? Haven't they ever heard of depreciation, lol!

I took a bunch of pictures, neighbors wonky fence, neighbors junk pile, hole in the barn door, my crumbling pump house...all those things that you're always gonna getaroundto...but haven't yet. Kinda glad we haven't if it helps to lower the ridiculous tax appraisal.

Picked more Purple Dove beans, picked 2 golden zucchini's that somehow hid for a couple days, got another trellis up. Have fence posts in the ground for a couple more trellises. And - I've got squash borers. ARGH!:somad I don't use chemicals so I wonder if it would help to put some ducks in the garden? I've got some small ones that aren't really big enough to trample anything. I dunno... I'm not ready to lose my Jumbo Banana Squash bush/vines when they've just started blooming. Always something...

Thanks! We will see... I know valuations go up. My biggest issue was for years it's been a couple thousand here or there - but 77K in one year! Nope! This is the first time I've ever protested - so we will see. :fl

Nice and cool this morning at 65. But I slept tooo late and by the time I finish this cup of coffee and get outside it'll probably be 90, lol. I'm already sick of summer and it's not even officially summer yet.

I need to kill some weeds. I need to get copper into the goats. I need to finish getting the trellises up. I need to separate some chickens. I need.... It's depressing how much stuff I need to do and how much I'll actually get done...

Picking squash and beans regularly now. Yay!
