Was that after she had you?

no, i've always been the good kid (that she knew of :) ). i was also born premie so i barely punched a ticket on the way out. for hours they did not hear a heartbeat and thought i was dead but when i came out i was still alive even if i was dark from lack of oxygen. i would not be surprised if there was brain damage. :) without incubators being invented i would have died. luck was with me and i eventually pulled through. as i consider every day above ground a gift and a blessing i try to appreciate them as they happen.

my sister pretty much insured that Mom would not want any more girl children... but they get along fine now.

re: early stuff, grandma said i looked like a chicken (maybe i heard her and that's a part of why i really don't much like chicken? joking, but i consider it rather funny) from the store i was so tiny. i got below 2lbs from being sick with bronchitis/pneumonia before i came back up and they could let me go home.

Geeze Louise! You had a rough start for sure.

All I did was drown in the bathtub when I was 15 months old. Got revived and the rest is history. Hmmmm.... wonder if there were any side effects of that lack of oxygen? Don't ask DH! LOL

i'm still very allergic to some things but as a baby Mom did not know all the things i would react to. lilacs being the worst but she loved them and brought some inside the house and i had issues and started turning blue so she called the doctor and he recommended throwing me out in the snow (in MI snow and lilacs blooming is not impossible)... good thing it worked. i still hate being cold and lilac anything are still my bane, but i do keep telling Mom that i'm very glad she remembered to bring me back inside... she grumbles at times that she might have not or been better off, but i know she loves me. it's hard for me to believe i've lived here almost 20yrs now.

i'm glad you made it ok! i will not mention anything else about mental effects because i know at least one thing for sure is that my short-term memory isn't that great and it never has been.

Thanks, me too!

Memory....argh! No comment, lol. Wait - what were we talking about?

when i worked at the library job it was a bit of a joke but i told people when i first met them that it would take some time for me to memorize their names. i do know if i've seen someone before, but names are for sure my weak point there.

it is also a reason why i never got majorly into memorizing scientific names and taxonomies. i only know those things after i've really studied a plant, animal, etc. for a while, but as soon as i stop the research and reading and move on to something else i'll forget a lot of the specifics. that's also a reason why i did not finish learning German and why my programming language learning also went down through time. after a bunch of those i ran out of more room in the noodle. :(

i'm much more efficient these days in all of these sorts of things because now i know up front what i can do more quickly and how to get around my weaker points. plus, sometimes i just say "No." :)

If I'm really interested in something I can learn and remember everything about it. If it doesn't hold much interest for me then my brain goes "why bother?"

Our temps are supposed to stay low today so I'll try to get some despised chores done outside. I hate weed whacking more than anything in the world. It kills my arms/hand and I'll regret doing it for the next week. But, it has to be done.
