Appreciate the hugs ya'll!

By-pass surgery for DH is scheduled for next Tuesday. Would be sooner, but he has to be off blood thinners for a week. I really like the cardiac surgeon. He's very matter of fact, but also compassionate and very willing to listen to all our concerns and address them in an extremely straight forward manner.

Of course, during the time DH will be hospitalized and in the week after I've got a couple of goats due. Guess they'll probably have to take care of their business the old fashioned way - on their own! Both of these does are experienced and have never had a problem, so I'm putting Mother Nature in charge. I'll put them up in the front barnyard and they should be fine.

Really not much else to report except the sucky weather. We were 79 degrees on Sunday and yesterday and today we're stuck in the 40's. ARGH!

Hope everyone else is warm and dry.

Dry, yes, warm only if I'm in the house. It's in the teens right now.

DH did his pre-op stuff this morning. I didn't go because I thought it wouldn't be a big deal - I was wrong! Besides the normal blood work and x-rays he talked to financial folks, the pre-op nurse, the anesthesiologist... I should have been there.

I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed right now - but I know things will get better. I tend to obsess about what will happen in the future - but I know when I'm in the middle of it that I'll deal with things as they happen. There won't be any other choice!

I need to cut down on my work load around here. I'm talking to a guy right now who has bought goats from me in the past. I offered him a package deal if he'd buy at least 4 goats. I'm hopeful that he'll come through. If not, I'll put up a Craigslist ad tomorrow.

Thanks ya'll. Tomorrow is the day. You really find out how many friends you have at a time like this. DH's and my phone have not stopped ringing/texting allll day! We've got literally thousands of people praying for him. It is such a calming feeling.

We have to be at the hospital at 5:30 in the morning and they'll take him to surgery at 7:30. It's funny how I've stressed all week, and now I'm more calm than I've been yet. I think it comes down to everything being in Gods hands now. No more reason to worry.

And - wouldn't you know it....I've got a couple does due within the week. But - it's alright already. Things will go as they are supposed to with the births too.

Thanks hq!

Surgery went well! He has been a total rock star. Wednesday morning they told him he had to sit up in a chair for at least 4 hours. He was in the chair for 12 hours! He even walked, a whole six steps, to the toilet and made good use of it,lol. TMI , sorry, but after surgery that is an important accomplishment.
They were able to remove the chest tubes this morning and he immediately started walking the halls. In fact he wore himself out and is napping soundly right now. They even indicated that if he continues to improve at this rate that they might, just might, let him go home a day early. I'm not holding my breath- but it would be awesome if it turns out that way!

I've gone home for a few hours each day to feed and check on things- like the pregnant does. The hospital is about 30-45 minutes from home depending on traffic so it's not horrible. I swear one of the does is about to pop- but she's only at 141 days today so I think we're safe for a few days longer and will hopefully be home before the big day.

Respiratory is here so gotta go. Thanks again for all the well wishes, thoughts and prayers.

You know, FEM.....its almost scary reading your journal. (similarities)
Well, they are so advanced with cardiac issues now, but it is scary when its your family they dealing with.
Drink down a cup of chamomile tea and try to get a good rest. Glad he pulled through the worst part. Best hope for continued recovery.
