Red finally did it! Triplets....and best of all - GIRLS! All girls, all three of 'em. They are all totally different in appearance too. One is black with tan markings and a small white patch on her side. Another one is red (like her mother) with the most unique white mark that starts at her withers, goes down both sides, and up again over her hips. It makes her look like she's wearing a saddle. And - the other one is a heavily moon spotted darlin', with a black base coat. I'm so stinkin' excited to get the moon spots. That's the good news. The bad news is that they are ALL rather lethargic. Maybe I'm worrying for no reason. Red is eating and drinking and cuddin' like she should be but she's hanging out in the barn all day. However - I don't blame her for that. It's nasty and muddy and yucky outside so I'd probably stay inside too. And, I just heard thunder - UGH!

I worked in the garden most of the day. I spread lots of wet newspaper as mulch and covered it with shavings. Paper and shavings are my mulch of choice this year since the hay I bought was treated with a herbicide. THAT will never happen again...grrrr!

I worked yesterday evening. We had a "bingo night" fundraiser. And...drumroll please... we made $1200 in two hours. Incredible! And, the money will go to paying for dual credit classes for our students. We need to have these fundraisers every semester.

And, the thunder was just a warning - it's pouring.... geeze ... when will this INSANITY stop?????

They do seem to be more active today - thankfully. They are all just so stinkin' cute. If they ever come out of the barn into the light of day I'll get picturesl

congrats on three, count 'em three baby girls. glad they are doing well. now let's think about that new puppy. you don't want to get something small enough for a hoot owl to carry off. friend of mine watched screaming as an owl swooped down and carried her full grown little yorkie off into the sky. not kidding, think about something a little bigger. out where i live i have to make sure my dogs are to big for a coyote to carry off. again congrats on the girls now pictures.

Ok - back to this 'fictional' puppy. ;)

I definitely wouldn't want hawk or hoot oil bait for sure! Not really interested in a 3-5 lb yappy little ankle biter, lol. I need something a little more sturdy than that. Ten pound minimum is more what I'd be comfortable with. DH wants a "lap" dog (if and when we ever take the plunge again!). He wants it to curl up in his lap so he can snuggle with it so it will lower his stress. Maybe he could take it to work with him. That'd be a better plan. Workplace = stress. Home = peace.

I want something non-shedding and non-allergenic and non-stinky and non-pooping on the carpet. Not too much to ask, right?

Red is still being a snit. She has totally claimed one corner of the barn (and the feeder) as her own and she's not giving it up for NOOOOOO-body. Babies are growing and they want to be more adventurous than she's letting them be. She is literally body-blocking their escape from her corner. There are some other babies running around and I think she doesn't want her baby to co-mingle with the others just yet. She really is a good mama.

I took a half-day off yesterday simply because it was NOT raining and I got some more mulching done in the garden. Over half-way now. But, I really need to start punching some seeds in the ground or I'm gonna have a really pretty - but non-producing garden. Not exactly what I'm going for...duh!

Okay - I've gotta get back to work or I'm gonna fall asleep in my office chair. Wouldn't impress the boss too much, lol!

Well, well, well... the crazy times in my life have added a new chapter! My DD got married yesterday - that's the good news. The bad news is that she almost wasn't able. She was struck with a horrible case of food poisoning - or a horrible stomach bug - or just horrible bad luck. Her wedding was set for 4:30 yesterday afternoon. She started puking at 1pm...and for the next 4+ hours she couldn't go more than 10 minutes without vomiting again.

The wedding coordinator was going ballistic because we had to keep pushing back the time. Finally, a little after 5pm she puked, stood up and said "let's do this thing" and walked down the aisle. The minister had been fore-warned so this was most likely the shortest ceremony in history - 4 minutes! She walked back down the aisle with her husband - straight to my truck and off to the ER we went. Her new husband stayed and got the reception going. My DH and his son and I found the nearest, newest stand alone ER and thankfully we were the ONLY ones there. We walked in with her in her wedding dress, me in my finery and within 5 minutes we were seen by the doc who ordered an injection of Zofran which is a total MIRACLE drug! She started to feel better almost immediately. They wanted to do blood work and start an IV and she said "NOPE, I've got a reception to get back to." She's a trooper. Within an hour we were back at the reception. She was by no means cured - but at least she wasn't puking anymore. My poor girl...

And then there was the minister's wife who was either on something - or needed to be on something. She practically assaulted my DD. She came over to her and started slapping her on the back and telling her how she'd given up so much to be at this wedding that she hoped my DD understood the sacrifices that she made. She actually even pulled her hair! OMG! We found out later that she had pulled up one of the cute little wooden signs on the path to the chapel and tossed it into the lake! WTHe**? Needless to say - she was quietly escorted away.

The minister is one of the greatest guys on earth and he was my DD's minister from when she was a child. He is the person who baptized her and she's been best friends with his children forever - in fact one of his daughters was a bridesmaid in the wedding. I felt so bad for him! He was mortified at her behavior. She even made a scene at the rehearsal dinner the night before. I knew this woman pretty well a dozen or so years ago - and I truly believe that she has a very serious problem.

I was glad to get home...it's been a long weekend. Critters were glad to see me, lol. Red's triplets are keeping her empty. I'm hoping she can keep up with 'em. One of her babies is HUGE(!) and hungry all the time. I'm starting to leave alfalfa pellets out 24/7 and I think that'll help her catch up in the milk dept. She's a gallon+ a day milker, so I think she'll catch up to them in a day or so. If not - I can see supplementing, but as a last resort, lol.

And now, I can see me heading to the bed! It's been a very long day.
