When I checked into it, DH was still working. A policy for me would have been 1,000 a month with a TEN THOUSAND $$$ DEDUCTIBLE. So I have paid the penalty each year, which has deeply, deeply pissed me off. In the years since, I have been to the doctor ONE time and spent $242. Before Obamacare F'ed things up, I could buy a catastrophic policy for about $300 a month. Not a fan of Obamacare.

I have about 1 1/2 years to Medicare. I am healthy except for a bum knee. I can wait.

"penalty" $$. I can't agree with it. Why should I pay for not having a policy ? Crazy. That started the yr my Medicare went into effect.

You all got me curious, so I checked health insurance in Ireland. Please don't kill me now :hide

One option – the cheapest one – is not to buy private health insurance at all. Some people seem to think they will be bankrupt if they ever need hospital treatment without medical insurance – but the most it can ever cost you is €750 in a year.

If you are admitted to hospital in Ireland for any reason – without health insurance or a medical card – the charge for in-patient/day services is €75 per day up to a maximum of €750 in any 12 consecutive months. All the treatment you recieve in hospital, all procedures, scans, surgery etc and all follow up out-patient treatment is free of any further charge.

Long Stay patients are charged less: (Long stay = over 30 days)

Holy Cannoli @sumi! That's awesome!

Insurance in this country is indeed a conundrum...and confusing...and stupid...and... that's all I'm sayin', lol.
Had the first of my dental appts. yesterday - what fun. Had an extraction - thankfully in the back and not noticeable. But, can't do a bone graft in preps for an implant because my bone is too weird and damaged from the resorption. Yay me. I'll get bridgework there. Next step in a few weeks is two more extractions and I'll get a temporary bridge there. The plan is to do implants on that side of my mouth, but now I'm a bit worried about the bone in that area too. I need 3D x-rays to confirm or deny enough bone. Geeze Louise is it meant for me to be Gummy Grandmummy soon? I hate this! But, I love this dentist. He's awesome and will now be my dentist for life. So gentle and compassionate...he can never retire! He's a few years younger than me so hopefully he'll be around for a long time.

Nothing much happening around the farm right now. Bucks are still in rut...they're still stupid...girls are still hussies. Brought Conan back in from the pasture and then all the gals decided to go in heat, lol. Too bad - he had his chance. I'll probably turn the Kinder buck out in a couple days... maybe this weekend. Just leaving all breeding possibilities up to chance this year.

Poor Conan - when he got put back with the big boys he was stupid enough to get into a shoving match with Dusty. He lost, lol. He's now sporting a loose scur that needs to just fall off. If I can manage it - I'd like to re-burn that area. This particular scur gets about 4 inches tall and shows what a lousy disbudding job I did. These bigger goats, especially Kiko's, have a huge base to their horns and obviously I need to burn more...ugh.

Disbudding is super not fun. And silly Conan, really? Gonna try to pick on the big guy? I hope you have at least a couple Conan babies though!

I'm thinking that at the very least I should have two bred to him. And hopefully more. He was with Cameo when she was in heat back in August. I never witnessed a successful breeding, but I did witness him practicing. I haven't seen her cycle again and she's looking fairly plump. I'm calling her bred until I have evidence that she isn't. I know he nailed Patch...I saw it! so while he was out there with allll the girls I hope he got one or two more that I didn't see but - who knows?

I'll probably put the Kinder guy out this weekend and leave him for a week or so.

And Cowboy decided that the electric fence is no match for him to chase down a bitch in heat. He was in the back yard this morning with Maddie and Gracie. They are now in the garage....grrrr. He's been such a good boy for such a long time. Guess he just couldn't stand it anymore!
