Oh my gosh - why are people so clueless!

Any time I sell a goat I try to make it a good match for the people. I had a lady contact me about the young buck that I'll probably end up putting in the freezer anyway. I thought I'd give it one more shot at selling him. Lady contacts me says he's real cute and can I send more pics. I say sure....I go get more pics and in the interim she tells me she wants a good pet for her kids. I tell her - he's not real friendly and I really don't want to mislead anyone. She says ok...but send more pics please. I send more pics and reiterate that as a breeding buck he'll be great, but for a pet he'd need to be castrated. By a vet. For money. I told her I have a pygmy doe due in a week or so and that I'll probably sell one of her kids. So, now she texts me back how much for both? A 10 month old intact buck and a young goat kid sold together? NO! ARGH! I've asked her now if she has any other goats? This is not going to end well.

I think it's going to end with you butchering a goat lol! People... this is why I hope to butcher all my kids. I just can't with the people.

She never answered me as to whether she had any other goats... but she did ask if I’m on vacation this week. I chose not to answer her.

Yep, thinking the little guy will be better off in the freezer!

Why would a prospective customer ask you if you're on vacation? Sounds very fishy to me. I do hope you didn't give her your address, or enough details to figure that out. I never give my address until a customer commits a time to come, and I get a name and phone number from them at that time.

Well if it's a school vacation week she likely is thinking about whether she'd be able to come see the goats on a weekday, since a lot of people are on vacation. That would be the non sketchy possibility, but I know, lots of sketchy people out there too.

Well at least you like goat meat!

No, I didn't give her my address. I had already decided at that point I wasn't going to sell her any of my animals. I will eat them before I put them into a situation I'm not comfortable with.

Yea, I figured she was hoping I was on spring break, lol. But I didn't feel compelled to share that with her.

Got some great pics of Cowboy and the newest babies today. I swear LGD's just don't get any better than Cowboy (and of course I'm not prejudiced at all!).

I can't see the pics.

;)

Good on you for refusing to sell goats just for the sake of making the sale! So many people out there sadly just want shot of animals and don't care where they go to, or if it'd be a good place for them.

Be careful what you ask for! There are soooo many. I ran out of time last night but I'll get some posted today.

I locked the older babies up last night so I've gotta get outside and milk their mama's. So excited to get milk. If I do this every day of spring break I should get enough for cheese and yogurt and milk, milk, milk!

Got about a half-gallon each from the two girls. Kinder Lucy gave about 1/2 cup less than Nubian Cameo. Crazy what these Kinders can do! Part of it might be that she's further along in her lactation and is naturally making more milk for her big ol' babies. But, I don't care why - just glad to have some white gold!

Extra fridge in the breezeway is making a disturbing noise this morning....hope it's not about to roll-over and be dead. I would be so annoyed if I had to go buy a new fridge... :( Gonna cross my fingers and hope it's nothing...gonna ignore it until I can't ignore it anymore, lol.

Time to go feed the out-back goats. I feel bad that I'm running waaaaay behind - but that time change has got me an hour off.
