Whoooo weeeee - I've been outside nearly all day. Took a break between 1 - 3 but been going strong the rest of the time. Got the hay done this morning and then started reconfiguring a chicken area. Some of my stupid chickens will not stay in the perimeter fence - they like the neighbors back porch (and cat food) better. These are my good neighbors so I can't have chickens over there ticking them off and crapping on their porch. The pen is ready so hopefully I can find 'em tonight and get 'em moved.

Also got most of a dead tree hauled out of the old chicken pen area and have been burning it a little at a time most of the day. That was pleasant...not!

I fed the pasture critters a little bit early so I could come inside and sit a minute before going out to milk. I wanted an ice cold beer - but if I have one now - I'd probably fall asleep. Staying inside so much this summer has not been good to me... I need to get my stamina back!

On a HOT day outside -- that is THE most refreshing drink I know. :D Weird because it isn't a big go to for me, except as above. And after moving hay -- bring me a beer!!! Alas, I find sleep follows fast, also. :idunno Cheap date!! Winter hay, no beer, only summer.

AND it needs to be sloshy ice cold!!!!!!!!:D We'd make a pair!

Absolutely agree! After a long, hot, dirty day of work - there's nothing that quenches the thirst the way that cold (yes, slushy cold) beer goes down. Like you - it's a summer thing for me...never buy it any other time.

I put some pig in the instant pot and enjoyed that with some freshly baked bread for dinner. So glad that while I was inside this afternoon I decided to bake bread. Soooo good!

But - put a fork in me - I'm done.

Tomorrow I need to put a bale of hay in the buck's pen and cover the rest against the rain that is very likely heading our way with a vengeance.

Saw the first doe hanging out at the buck pen today. The bucks have been feeling their hormones for a couple weeks now - but the girls are catching up with 'em now. One of the next things to do is get some kind of Chester 'lift' put together so he can do his biddness (hopefully) with the big gals.

Think I'll sit back and try to finish a good mystery story that I started. I've enjoyed finding a little time to read lately - thanks to my surgery. I need to keep it up and try to keep the mind stimulated.

Well, you SAID you needed rain!! Ask & receive?
I know.... but at this point we need it ore than we don't need it. But, sigh, I don't want to be wearing rubber boots in 100 degree weather. It's no fun - no fun at all!

Rye grass will need it though - so I'll suffer through if I must. :(

Woke up this morning with some dizziness. I think I'm a little dehydrated from yesterday - so pushing the fluids today. I got the round bale moved to the buck pen. I don't have anything around it to keep them from wasting so much so I need to look around and see if I can find something. They actually did pretty well with their last bale even though it didn't have anything around it either. They're better than the girls/babies. Baby goats just want to climb to the top of the bale and pee on it, lol. The bucks are more dignified than that.

Decided NOT to put the trailer back in the pasture because geeze, every time we do, the light wires get eaten off. Stupid dogs...don't know why those wires are such an attraction but they are. So, trailer is parked on the driveway. It'll need to be there to get the lights fixed anyway....sigh. Still need to haul it to town and get some more panels - but not in the cards today. I don't feel like it - and the Texans are playing in just a bit. Still need to find time to do some mowing before it starts raining. Gotta get the rest of the round bales covered too...plus re-cover some that the tarps have disintegrated on. Why won't tarps last more than a season? Heck, some of them don't even last that long...and I don't buy the cheap ones. Grrrr!

f you think peeing all over themselves is dignified, so be it!
The BUCKS think it's not only dignified but that it makes them irresistible to the women, lol! But maybe it's not terribly dignified in OUR estimation - but it's certainly a dang sight better than peeing on your food, lol!

I. AM. SO. TIRED! Another long day. Took a break to watch the Texans game - but other than that I didn't slow down much. Got more chickens separated and put up. Got the hay put in the buck's pen and got it covered. I had three other round bales that were covered - but their tarp gave up. They have a new one now. Ever tried to put a 12 x 24 tarp over a bunch of hay bales all by yourself with the wind blowing? I promise you it's a frustrating experience - but it's done. Had two more bales to cover also. Got those done as well.

Mowing day for us and all the neighbors in advance of the promised rain. Glad to just have it done.

DH is putting together a little dinner of sausage links and veggies for us. He's so sweet - he started that while I was in the shower. Smells good so I better go get my share!
