Thanks ya'll! I really don't think it'll be a big ol deal - but I plan on "playing it up" a bit, lol. I want 3 weeks off to use up some of my accrued sick time. I saw the physician's assistant yesterday for pre-op and she says 2 - 3 weeks is pretty standard, but that most are ready to go back after two. We'll see how it goes. If I only get two weeks I'll take care of some other issues with the rest of my time.

And, just to make life interesting - Friday I started having trouble with another tooth. GRRRRR...I definitely don't need a toothache sidelining me right now. And, I don't really want to have to go to the dentist when I have a fresh incision on the side of my neck.

I have a couple of "have-to's" to take care of this morning. I've got a couple of stoopid wethers who keep sticking their heads through the fence and the stoopid horns I left on them keep getting caught. I've got a piece of pvc pipe taped to one guys horns that prevent him from sticking his head through. I need to do the other guy this morning so DH doesn't have to deal with that.

That might be all I do all day... and a couple loads of laundry....and may need to run to Wal-mart...and maybe move some goats around...and worm some does...and catch some baby pigs and pen them for weaning...Geeze - so much for doing nothing, lol!

We did chores, that's all. I have the water sprinklers going on my new patches of grass, gotta move them from time to time, turn off in the heat of the day, resume this evening. Won't do much good to water when it evaporates before it can strike the ground. LOL LOL

It feels a little crazy to be wishing for some rain here! We've had at least 1/2 inch this past week - but you can't really tell by looking! It's dry again 5 minutes after a little shower. Been rain all around us nearly every day lately - but not so much here. I feel your pain! Hope your pasture takes off - I know you've put a lot of work into it.

Thanks, I just gotta get it to survive August. The real work is about to commence-all that new cleared ground. I figure a good 2 years.

Thanks! Alive and … alive. Not a real happy camper right now but being in a bit of pain is sure preferable to the alternative, lol.

My first experience with general anesthesia....gee whiz that stuff works, lol. But, definitely gives ya a heck of a hangover. We got to the facility yesterday by 5:30am - surgery around 8, finished at 9:30, recovery until about 10:15 and I was back home by 11am. Slept until about one - got up for about an hour and slept again until about 4:30pm. Went outside around 7pm with DH to supervise feeding for about a half-hour. Unfortunately, started to sweat, which burns the hell out of a fresh incision and came back in and let him do the last bit all by himself.

All of that was too much sleep and has me really off schedule....surprise, surprise. Went to bed about 11pm last night and tossed and turned and rolled and adjusted and re-adjusted...could NOT get comfortable. I have a huge pressure bandage on the side of my neck and it's like trying to sleep with a softball taped to you. So, I finally gave up and got out of bed around 3:50 am. I'm expecting to be a little off my normal schedule for awhile, lol.

I'll need to call the Doc's office today because DH can't remember how long I have to keep this torture device...I mean bandage on. It's either 24 or 48 hours. I don't think I can tolerate it another day. The tape is killing my skin and it's so tight that it has my head tilted forward and to the right side. I know it's there for a reason - the pressure is supposed to keep fluid from building up around the incision. But, I can't tilt my head back enough to even take a pill. I have to lean the whole body back. I know - whine, whine, whine, lol. But all in all the experience wasn't 100% terrible. I'm really glad it's over and hope I never need to do it again!

I didn't stay outside long enough yesterday to milk so I'm going to slip outside right at daybreak and see if I can get Luna milked and get back in before it gets too warm. I also brought up another doe Sunday evening that needs to be wormed and her baby weaned. Might see how she behaves on the milk stand. I don't really need to milk another doe but I could use her milk for piggies if she will behave. She's not been milked before - but Luna has me spoiled. She was the easiest new milker I've ever had - so hoping Emily will be just as co-operative. If she's too big of a pain I'll not push the issue - don't need to get kicked in the face by an irate goat, lol.

Hopefully you'll be allowed to take the bandage off after 24 hours! It sounds awful...

It's not a whole lot of fun - but it's really not as bad as I thought it might be. I get nauseous occasionally but it doesn't last long. I'm working on taking this bandage off a little piece at a time, lol. I think part of the pain is from how tight this bandage is. But, it IS a pressure bandage so I'm not surprised that it's tight.

I did sneak out this morning before the sun came up and got Luna milked. Poor gal - she was ready for it. Then I grabbed Emily and led her into the feed room. This goat that has never been milked (and is a full-sized Nubian) was persuaded to jump up on the milk stand and investigate. She wasn't really interested in feed - too busy looking around. But, this gal stood like a trooper and I milked her without her ever lifting a foot! Dang - I've got some good goats! I gave her milk to the piglets cuz I had just wormed her.

Oops - typed this a while ago and forgot to hit 'reply.' In the interim I got that stinkin' bandage off. How do you spell relief! Much better now.
