Visited with friends (former coworkers) yesterday. It was the first time in nearly two years that we've gotten together. First time I've seen them since my daughter passed. We shared some tears and some laughter and caught up on each other's lives. It was a good visit. We promised to get together more often. We always promise to, lol.

As a result of the rain and the visit I didn't get much done at all yesterday. That's ok - it's all out there waiting for me. I'm anxious to get some planting done! I also need to get some bucklings and doelings separated SOON! Looks like I'm going to spend some time working in the mud. We've still got random rain showers happening. Not crazy about that but they say we might see the sun this afternoon. Sure hope so!

Wish you could send some of the rain showers to this area... We are getting dangerously dry again... fires in parts of NC and SC and we are in the "smoke alley" from them... They keep calling for rain/showers here and we maybe get 20 sprinkles and that's it. Wouldn't be so bad but we have had constant and continuous winds.. more than many of us have ever remembered this much all through the winter... We normally have a burn ban before 4 p.m. our wind patterns change in the evenings so burning after 4 is normally allowed... Several days they have declared a 24 hr burn ban due to the high wind gusts and the dry ground conditions.
That area of NC around Asheville that got devastated in the floods, is now having to deal with wildfires...

Definitely would if I could! As it is we didn't get nearly as much as was predicted. I'm ok with that since the prediction was for 5 - 10 inches. I haven't checked the rain gauge but I'm pretty sure we're between 2 and 3 inches total. We needed it too. Ground already had significant cracks.

I'm going to try to get the insect fabric over the screen house today. Then I get to transplant some tomatoes in there! Still have two more raised beds to construct and fill but the first one is done and ready for planting.

Next project will be to repair the shelter in the weaning pen. Projects never end around here, lol!
