Cool front came through with a minimum of fuss. Got alerts on the phone all day yesterday...tornado alerts, lightning alerts...rain is coming alerts but nothing really came of it. We had one good round of rain that lasted about 15 minutes.

I managed to get a new roof put on a goat shelter. I'll leave it as a shade shelter until fall/winter when I'll put a back and sides on it. It's in the weaning pen so I needed to get it done. Weaning will commence soon enough.

Almost time to list some of the babies for sale. Yay - little buggers are lotsa work and constantly underfoot. I love it though (for at least 8 - 10 weeks), lol. I'll band a couple of bucklings and they'll be harvested this fall. Lotsa grass/browse out there that they can enjoy until then. These guys are Nubian/Boer crosses and I'm anxious to see how they grow out.

I promised the neighbors a batch of quail for the bbq pit, so I need to get busy and butcher. Need the cage room. I'll try to keep hatching them going for a constant supply of meat. They make tasty dog meals too. Handy little critters.

Need more coffee and then gotta get busy.

That sounds like a good plan for summer.

I have roof panels that need to get onto a roof. Way too windy
I get it! I waited about 3 days for the wind to decrease. Finally got it done yesterday morning but as I was finishing up the wind picked up again. I was glad I already had a gazillion screws holding the sheet metal down, lol.

Weaning has started along with serious milking. No more of just sneaking some milk here and there.

This is Pebbles, but I also have Poppy and Blackie that need a little relief too. I put her on the stand yesterday and couldn't remember if I've ever even milked her before, lol. Either I did a great job training her or she desperately needed some relief. She was the most well-behaved of the three. Can't wait for some homemade yogurt and some cheese (!) along with some delicious white stuff in my coffee.

Been working my behind off every day trying to beat the heat. I've got most of the big jobs done - except for replacing a couple of gate posts and rehanging the gates. Oh, and the plumbing job... always something.

My to do list finally has more chores completed than chores that waiting on me.

What I haven't done is my taxes. Ws getting everything ready for the CPA a couple weeks ago and noticed that one of the 1099's was incorrect. Called my investment guru who handles all that for me and she got on the phone with them. Yep - they screwed up. Nope, can't email you a corrected form. Can't fax it without a notarized release which we did. Still gonna take at least a couple more weeks for that - HOWEVER - they swore they mailed one to my home address on the 7th. Haven't seen it. Extension has been filed and I'm seriously ANNOYED!

Garden is starting up slowly. Got most of the work done on the tomato tent (a.k.a. screen house). Tomatoes are planted and perking along. Saw a bloom on a patio tomato plant the other day! Woo hoo! I'll have to make sure it gets pollinated but that shouldn't be a problem. Most everything else is in raised beds or tubs. Can't give up the goat pen space for a big inground garden right now. Hopefully with some intensive planting and succession planting I'll still get plenty of goodies.

Now THATS an amazingly good udder!
It is, thank you very much! Oddly enough, she's 1/2 Kiko, 1/4 Nubian and 1/4 pygmy! Who woulda thunk that combo would make a pretty udder? I've got several really nice udders on the place - and some real stinkers too! I don't post pics of the stinkers, lol.
