We had a cat named No-tail. He was a stray, he had no tail (or actually just a stump of one), one ear, a big abcess in his front leg (my mother treated it) and blind in one eye. Poor guy, he adopted us and he was a real sweety. When we moved to the country we couldn't find him and we had to move without him.
I've had a black cat named Rin-Tin-Tin.
My grandfather named his cat, "CAT", real imaginative. He didn't want to get attached to it, haha. He had found it as a kitten with it's eyes barely open in the trash. They were inseperable.

We usually don't name a pet or animal unless we have to call it to us or it displays some kind of distinguishing characteristic. Of course, dogs and cats have to be called in so they get a name. Some of the chickens we named because we needed a way to refer to them when pointing them out for some thing they did or other.

I already have names picked out for the sheep but they may "earn" their own names by their personalities or beauty alone.

And some animals just "look" like a particular name, don't they?

Okay I know this is funny animal names but there is a guy that works with my dad whose name is Ensign (pronounced "n" "sin") who has a brother named Vinsign (pronounced the same), a brother named Dugan ("doo" "gun") and a sister named Sparkles...no lie, it's on her birth certificate.

Okay, so on to animal names. We have a cat named Lil Bit, and had one named Houdini (for obvious reasons). My brother had an iguana named AEON (pronounced "a" "eee" "on"), we also had a dog named Festus. We currently have a dog named Tonka. All my chickens have sort of normal names, although we do have a hen named Butterscotch.

We once had an English Springer Spaniel officially named 'Agatha's Devonshire Cream', but was called 'Laces' by the kids because she loved to chase shoelaces like a kitten.
