Across the border from me, in VA, there are these towns, going from north to south, Burnsville, Warm Springs, Hot Springs, Healing Springs....and they are all in Bath Co. Right across the border in WV is the town of Frost.

Is it me, or are these folks inordinately obsessed with temperatures? :p

I'm so with you on the Drain, Pat. Mudland Acres keeps crossing my mind as a name.

DH reminded me of two communities in his hometown.
Found Rabbit & Lost Rabbit.
Found Rabbit used to be a little farming town. No one alive knows how to get there. Lost Rabbit is an even older town that was lost before Found Rabbit was settled. Maybe 15 years ago, some teenagers found Lost Rabbit again.

Soooo (deep breath) they lost Lost Rabbit before they lost Found Rabbit & found Lost Rabbit again. Great story to mess with tourists.

In MN we have a Nimrod, Pillager, Upsala, Gaylord, Spicer, Winthrop (just because its fun to say), Echo, Slayton, Butterfield, Good Thunder, Hayfield, Rock Dell, Salem Corners, Tawny, Black Hammer township, Mound Prairie, Post Town, Shanty Town, Stark, Day, Pease, Clappers, Faith, Viking, Badger, Fox, Climax, Fertile, Flaming, as well as a town on the edge on MN in Canada called 'Emo'.

Then there are a bunch of towns with Swedish, Norwegian, and Native American names, like Borup, Flom, Bejou, Ulen, Sabin, Waskish, Ponemash, Naytahwaush, Erskton, Grygia.. and I'll leave it at that.

This town is somewhat near where my father was born in Wales:

Lllanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, Anglsey, Wales

It was supposedly the longest place name in the world.

One of the plots of land we looked at was in Dingly Cooch, but that was a no :) We also have a place called 'Negro Brook' which was only changed from a much ruder N word about 15 years ago.

St. Louis de Ha! Ha! in Quebec
Tatamagouche, Garden of Eden, Lower Economy, Shag Harbour, Dingwall, and Beaver Harbour are in Nova Scotia
Come-by-chance, Joe Batt's Arm, Dildo and Upper Dildo, Spread Eagle are in Newfoundland

I can't take it anymore! Now I have to call a meeting of PISSI.... :barnie

I think living in a town called Dingly Cooch would be GREAT! :D

Can you imagine giving directions? "Well, you take Rt. 52 west all the way to Crab Crossing, take a left, go about 2 more miles and you will be right IN Dingly Cooch. You really can't miss it..."
