Chives, Scallions, Yellow Sweet Onions, and Red Delicious Onions seeds are all in the soil in the garage.

I used a variety of starter mixes. I had some old Burpee peat pellets I bought on clearance last year that I used for the chives. I couldn't find the soilless seed-starter mix so I used up some old seed starter from last season to plant the scallions. Then I bought a huge bag of peat moss along with some "fruit and vegetable blend" top soil from the hardware store and mixed them in a 50-50 mix. I'm wondering if I'd have done better to do 1/3 peat moss with 2/3 soil, as it really seemed to "overly" loosen the soil when I mixed them. I hope that won't be a problem when I transplant them.

They're laid out in flats in the garage where it's about 55-60 deg F. Will move them to the barn in a couple weeks if the weather warms. The seed packets all say that I have 10-21 days before germination so I have just about that long to get my grow lights put together.

I posted a picture on our Facebook timeline HERE!

You are starting your asparagus from seeds? I did buy seeds a few years ago, but I somehow lost them and then I was too much in a hurry anyway, so I bought year old crowns and set up a bed of 30 plants.
Sounds like you have done the best you could. You are still a rookie, but you have been reading up on it and are willing to keep at it.
Lots of my knowledge came from books and magazines.
But, alas....I can't talk to you about Ohio. I"m probably about 2500 or more miles south of you....
I'm not quite sure what I'm going to start with. I need to put in my orders now. Trying to start up as inexpensive as possible so seeds are the preferred route.
That's true, but it will take years longer to get a harvest... Maybe you could find someone to split an asparagus crown order with and then get a bulk discount?
