Getting wax off vegetables?

I just peel swedes. It gets rid of any dirt or grit caught in the crevasses of the skin.

I'm hoping my swedes in the garden grow well. It's be fun to have our own, because we really like them. I just cube them and steam them in the microwave. They're tasty.
