hey central ohio ladies!

run dont walk to your phone and call your Giant Eagle grocery to see if they have the same promo that was in our store yesterday!!

if you buy just $30 worth of groceries (for us thats a bag of cat food + a tub of kitty litter) then you get the special price on whole turkeys. limit one.

i got a 22 lbs turkey for $4.88

i couldnt believe it! seriously there was a bunch of us standing around the case saying 'really? is this real?'!! and as i was checking out i saw that every woman in the store had one in her cart

the kicker was that i had a $5 off coupon - so that baby was basically free!

we try not to buy meat from the store but man... this was a total score. and makes me wonder about our turkeys that are out there screwing around and trying to get on the roof again... hum......

:)

oh man i'm so excited! very soon the house is going to smell like turkey heaven. i'm going to part him up, save some to roast tonite, and make gallons of stock! yay!

but already the house is a bean-y wonderland.... i've got the last of the ham hocks in BBQ beans, mustard, and sorghum slowing cooking away....

whoot!

Shortly after halloween, grocery stores in Colorado start selling $4, $5 and $6 turkeys depending on size. I stock up. I think Big Daddy mentioned he did too. I just cooked up the last turkey from last year's sales. These turkey sales are the main reason I got a deep freezer :D

I am not a southern belle---I grew up in the North

I did turn into a southern cook mostly. of course BBQ ANYTHING tops my list..lol

My biscuits are a disgrace. They are lead all the time. I still buy biscuits....believe it or not, I have too or I could kill someone..HAHA

But homemade cornbread I can do! Ya'll

HAHA

Do you know the difference between a yankee and a damned yankee?

The yankee went home!

(Boy I heard that joke alot when I first moved to NC)

hee hee hee thats pretty good....

i have a buddy who's family moved to houston from NJ. TRUE yankees - but they didnt know it.

the proudly displayed their Northern musket above the fireplace.... until someone took them aside and told them FIRMLY that they were in the south and to take that darn thing down.

it scared the family to death
;-)

you mean to tell me with all that lard walking around out there in your hog lot you still cant make biscuits!??!?!? golly...hee hee hee

depending on where you are in this part of the state ....you may or may not be in The South. its kinda funny for us new comers. but i adopted the drawl and now i fit right in.

until, in times of severe emotional distress, i wear shorts and flip flips when its 50* and "dude" someone by mistake. i nearly got my mouth washed out with soap! its common language where i came from!!
