Haven't had a chance to watch it yet...

but I am MUCH more likely to marry for money than love. LOL. If I can find someone who wants to afford me, I'm so there.
:gig When I met SO, after a few weeks he mentioned that his money was disappearing. The next month he was having a hard time paying for everything. LOL, I'm not high maintenance, just REALLY expensive!!

That's me!!! I have very expensive tastes. I don't own much because I won't waste money on junk that isn't good enough or junk I don't need.

Can you IMAGINE my kitchen if I had loads of $$$... *drools*

And my wardrobe. And OMG I could buy SHOES!!! Dozens of gorgeous shoes....

Right now, I have 1 pair sneakers, 1 pair sandals, 1 pair combat boots, 1 pair cute dressy boots. LOL. So plenty enough for all needs. But I WANTS muchly more shoes... And dresses...

I don't think the person I'd "marry for love" exists in this world. So I'll have to make do with cash.

LOL shoes are SOs thing, my grandfather too. My grandpa always used to buy me shoes, so I have BOXES of shoes but I wear one pair until they are officially dead. So when SO saw my boxes of shoes when we moved in together, he had a cow. He is always running after me when I dress with shoes and trying to get me to dress nicer. LOL.

*laughs* I have extraordinarily elegant tastes. I get it from my dad. If I weren't sure he liked girls I'd really wonder... He is a neat freak, organized, can go all dapper, loves to dance... He can decorate and cook...

But yeh... I drive people nuts because I keep what I own on such a low level compared to what I want because I won't settle for imitation. *sighs*

Poor fashionistas are sad panda fashionistas ;)

I thought this topic had a quite a bit to do with what we talk about on here... So many of us here live on a low income or lower finances.. Has this affected your relationship with those around you at all?

Since when do money and material items become more important than the universal emotion of love?? It's crazy!
Remember that "marrying for love" is a fairly recent idea. Historically, marriages were business arrangements, so maybe we're just coming full-circle. ;)
You are so right. Funny that a majority today forget this, but I am glad that for the most part, it's meaning has mostly changed and most people are actually allowed to marry for the reasons they want.

I don't have to worry, no one would marry me for money, I don't have any.

:hugs for Dace

If I had married my hubby for money, I'd be in trouble. He makes good money, but can't handle it. If he could, I wouldn't have to work, and would have my own farm now. :/

There is not enough money in this world to have gotten me to marry someone I didn't love.

Our business fell apart this year. About half what it was last year. We are going into farming partly out of need so that we won't be held hostage by organic food prices, and partly because we know there is money where we intend to specialize.

Our friends are not shallow. But we've watched many people on the fringes of that friendship circle have a really hard time with this choice. While we were successful web designers, small business startup experts, and webmaster trainers, they thought we were worth looking up to. Now that we want to farm, and we talk about chickens, they just can't quite cope with that! :)

I've had some very condescending remarks made by people in the technical arena. One guy said, "Why don't you just sell me the rights to your software product, so that you can go take care of your chickens." I told him sure, the price was $25,000. He said it wasn't worth that, and how there was no way that the price was justifiable (after telling me that if it were just marketed right it would be worth millions). The next day I was offered $50,000 for it. I think he thought that since I had chickens in the back yard, that I might let him walk away with it for a song.

I'd definitely rather be poor with love than rich without it. I happen to think that if you live right, focusing on love, hard work, and generosity, that it is possible to have an abundance of everything.

I had the chance to be with a rich guy that I just knew- I would never fall in love with. He was even a nice guy, and looked good but "it wasn't there".
I told him to move on because I think everybody deserves the chance to find love. He wasn't going to find it while wasting his time with me and I didn't want to be already married if the right one came along.

I got married later and pinching pennies, is worth it to be with a compatible soul.
