...or a blessing and a curse?
Freezers are literally bursting at the seams.
DH got lots of fish while I was gone, and that topped them off.
I just did a bunch of rearranging to cram the turkey in.

Next week, we have to butcher 30 or so old chickens.
Getting very few eggs from them, and that means they are WAY behind on their rent.
Looks like I will have to can them all, cause there is no way I am going to
try and find a 4th freezer.

Maybe you should do like the bears and fatten up for the winter. Could you dry the fish? How about renting a meat locker for a while until you can fit in into your 3 freezers? Do you guys have a cache outside for winter storage? Well, I guess that does not solve the immediate problem.

I sorta wish I had your problem ;) .

Good problem to have! What about smoking or drying the fish and putting the hens in the freezer?

You have a blessing. You are well stocked through your own efforts. If something should happen to your blessed curse, you know what to do about it.

I have the same problem. Wish I had the fish though. I am full to the gills with beef. I am canning most of the chicken. Will keep a few of the largest for roasting. I am also planning to start canning/drying/pickling beef. I need to make space for the turkeys in a few months and we will never be able to eat it all before it looses its quality. If you can dry/smoke some of that fish and send it my way I could help you out with your space issues. Did I say I wish I had some fish?

if you decide not to can, then just don't kill the chickens yet. eat down for, say 2 months, out of the freezer and then you have alot more freezer room for those chickens.

good to be stocked!
