I also have this problem, we have 3 full size freezers and one apt.size. Last wk I had to find room for four turkeys and 13 hens.

I arranged the freezers like so--one for beef, one for pork and turkey one for goat, lamb and chicken, the little one gets veggies, butter ect...

It was a big job,but it is so nice and neat now.

My only worry is that we have a bad storm this winter and lose POWER!
Usually here we are lucky and only lose it for a few hours, and if need be we do have a generator.

We are so Blessed!

We do want one. Not hard to obtain, except for the price.
In a few weeks though, we will be able to turn off the power to all the outside freezers.

So your outside freezers are your cache containers. Very nice.

In a few weeks? When is your first frost date?

We have four freezers-two in the garage, tw in th shop. Al have free freezing in the winter months. they get filled up in summer/fall and as they get emptied, some get unplugged altogether until needed again. Right now, I am down to one freezer, and when the meaties are done in a few weeks, another freezer gets plugged in. then deer season, then lamb season, etc etc.

I was reading of drying the fish in 2 books I read by Velma Wallis(two old women and rasing ourselves).Seems like a good way to stock up the meat.

I think I might try to find another upright freezer this week. We had our pig delivered last Wednesday. Dang that thing took up some space. I have 4 weeks to make room for 50 chickens. Then the Turkeys in a couple months. :barnie

My plan is to tackle the biggest things first. I have a store bought turkey that will get cooked this week. I have considered canning some of the chicken. Not sure.

such a dilemma. :thumbsup Geez I wish I could store my freezers outside unplugged. That must be such a cost saver.

Good problem to have! What about smoking or drying the fish and putting the hens in the freezer?
We are not set up to cold smoke yet, so that is a no go.
