Why would we need to get ourselves in so much debt anyway simply because we need to build up credit. :/
Well, you really don't need to do this to get good credit. We have a credit card, but it is paid off every single month on time. That builds good credit.

We got a student loan for my last year of college, but it was interest free for the first 6 months and got paid off before the interest would start accruing. Again, good credit.

And, we are in debt for our house, but it's at a level we can handle and pay off each month without problems. More good credit ratings :)

Meandthegals is right.

Get one or two credit cards and pay them off fully each month. Buy things with them that you would normally buy anyway and set that money aside to pay it off at the end of the month.

I had several clients that would pay off their credit cards each month but had so many open that they were still in a high risk group because of their debt to income ratio.
Just a couple of cards is enough.

BTW, insurance companies do pull your driving history and your claims history - along with your credit. These are the three major reports that your insurance company will pull to help determine your premium.

It is very unfortunate that the driving and claims history aren't the only ones they pull. I don't agree with the credit thing at all - and I know many agents who don't agree with it either, but there isn't anything they can do about it.

Do I think Corporate is taking advantage? You can bet you bottom dollar.
