After cooking for 2 hours this is one of those "this is home" smells for me.

I forgot to post why I prefer our dried corn. The store varieties I've found are basically just dehydrated.

The dryer-thingy that we use slightly cooks the kernels so that they are more tan in color and have a caramel/nutty flavor to them.

That's probably why I prefer the homemade.

The stuff keeps forever! My grandmother passed away 10 years ago next month and we still have some left that cooks up just fine....

I'll defintely have to try this. I dry my own sweet corn and usually feed it to the chickens and for seed. I hope I have enough left to at least try this once this year. :lol:
