FD, what method do you use to get the seeds out of the pods and get the pod bits out of the seed?
I grew mustard seeds last year and let them dry in the pod. I began splitting the pods by hand. It takes way too much time & nothing I've tried can get all the pod bits out of the seed.....

Another idea is to make a obvious border- and say no weedwacking in this area.
Or plant/transplant some of the Dahlias/ wanted "weeds" into pots and set the pots in the garden.

I rubbed the dry mustard seed pods with my fingers and they came out quite easily. I removed a lot of the bigger chaff (the pod parts) by just swirling my bowl to get the seeds to go to the bottom and the pods to float to the top and picked them out by hand. Then I winnowed them on a slightly windy day. I got most of the chaff out that way. I still have the occasional bit of chaff in with the seeds, but it doesn't bother me. I can pick it out, when I use the seeds for cooking or pickling.

So basically it's just a tedious process all the way around and I need to just suck it up. :p

Alright then. I have noticed that the stuff I grew is much more potent than the store bought, so it's worth the ag.
