In addition to The Little Dutch Maid hand crank mixer Cottage Craft Works now carries the Amish conversion Kitchen Aid hand crank stand mixer.
This Amish machine shop completely refurbishes the Kitchen Aid 5-Quart mixer and converts it to a hand crank mixer for off-grid use.
It functions just like the electric mixer. The creative adjustable crank handle allows you to adjust the speed so you do not have to speed up cranking for whipping. Simply loosen the black set screw on the end of the crank and adjust the handle speed for whipping creams, and sauces, or to slow the speed down for bread doughs and cookie mixes.
The mixer does come with the flat beater, wire whip, dough hook, 5qt stainless mixing bowl and plastic splash guard. All attachments are new or refurbished just like new.
Before you get too excited, you need to know that in the conversion and gearing configuration for the hand crank, the docking port for the added Kitchen Aid attachments is no longer a working feature on this mixer.
Yes, this is disappointing if you have all the attachments, but if you just use it for making bread, whipping egg whites or using the flat beater for cookies, this mixer maybe a good off-grid alternative. It is $70 cheaper than The Little Dutch Maid as well.
