You bloom where you are planted, right? I have been planted in the hot, hot Central Valley of CA, in a neighborhood, rather then in the Sierras. I love this journal idea! I'll start by answering the template mentioned in the sticky.

Name: HannaLee
Birthday: 1972
Hometown: Tulare, Central Valley, CA
Current Residence: suburbs of a small city
Relationship Status: happily married to my high school sweetheart
Political Views: conservative
Religious Views: born again Christian, saved by grace by Jesus Christ

Activities: canning, crochet, cross-stitch, homeschooling my Lambies, gardening in my little raised bed, camping, hiking

Favorite Music: Jars of Clay, Newsboys, Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel

Favorite TV Shows: The Biggest Loser, football, Heroes

Favorite Movies: I am Legend, Independence Day, Somewhere in Time

Favorite Books: The Bible, Alas, Babylon, lots and lots more....

About Me: I am a 37 yo mother of eight, trying to do as the Lord leads in my life. I grew up in north coastal Oregon and moved to CA in 1992. In Oregon, my husband and I were involved in Search and Rescue activities. I miss that. We camp regularly, and take day trips to the Sierras often, but I can't get enough of the forest.

I cook from scratch almost all the time, and enjoy it greatly. I learned to can a couple of years ago, and now all our convenience foods are homemade, too. :D I homeschool my children using Ambleside Online, which is a literature based curriculum. Our family attends Calvary Chapel.

Ifn's you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

What an adventure this shall become for you, the highs and lows. Looking back reading some good things you did, not so good things, things that make you giggle every time you read them, and problems that seemed to big at the time and how you reached a solution to fix/cope with it.

Often folks will support you, advise you in perhaps a better direction. This place is like having a bunch a friends from different walks of life in your back pocket.

Welcome, Jason..

These are pictures of the garden we built in the spring of 2009:

I grew tomatoes, green beans, serrano and jalepeno peppers, basil, and some other herbs, zucchini and cucumbers. I had a decent harvest, but nothing overwhelming. This fall, I have fertilized with llama manure and hope for a better yield. I plan lots of lettuce and greens, carrots, garlic and peas for the winter. My daughter has some half-grown corn planted, too.

Welcome! :frow

Alas, Babylon ... I love that book I have read it many times. :D

If you stick around here you will learn LOTS!

Lots of good people that are very willing to take the time to teach what they know. Really a great place to be.

Please pray for my daughter Rachel. We are in the children's hospital and have been for a couple of days she is having surgery this afternoon for an abscessed lymph node. It happened suddenly on Thanksgiving night. She has been on IV antibiotics for 2 days now and we'll be here for at least two more days depending on the outcome of the surgery. Pray that the infection hasn't spread to her chest, that gets dangerous.
