I once heard about using lemon peel zest and applying on your head where the pain is. I found that it actually worked! I wouldn't put it in your hair though :)

lavender oil on the forehead. That what was in the product Head On. Everyone remembers that commercial. I think ran the commercial so you would get a headache.

I remember reading about using lavender on the temples to ease a headache. Staying hydrated is important- particularly for migraines I've been told. I am blessed with a body that gets few headaches, but when I get one, the only thing that truly works for me (other than acetomenaphin) is to lie down in a darkened room for half an hour or so.

I have never heard of some these suggestions but, I have used zone therapy for years. Whatever side your headache is on, massage the area between your thumb and forefinger on the opposite side; also try the bottom of the feet as well as the toes and the areas between the toes I have even applied pressure to the eyeball and had success.
once I had a severe migraine and had my son take a large screwdriver by the shaft and had him beat on the instep of my foot as hard as I could bear it and within 10 minutes the pain had subsided. I used the between the thumb and forefinger method on a friend and ended his skepticism in just a few minutes.

Some lavender essential oil massaged into the temples could help relieve a headache...

Lavender oiled can also help if inhaled. My grandmother puts two or three drops to two cups of boiling water whose vapour is inhaled. Has anyone used pepper mint oil. Also heard it is a remedy.

I know this will probably be the least popular remedies but they both helped me after years of headaches.

I used a neti pot for 30 days to get rid of sinus problems and I became vegan for almost a year. As soon as I went back to eating dairy my headaches came back.

Since going back to eating meat and dairy my headaches are back.

but some of the ideas in this thread are intriguing... gonna try several. it's not like i'm likely to run out of headaches.:rant

Mom gets blinding migraines. Back in the early '80s, the specialist she saw taught her a biofeedback technique that was like a specialized meditation. It's one of the few things that really help her with the pain, but it doesn't stop the headache. Just eases the suffering.

I really need to talk to her about it again because she says it works to subdue all pain.

I get headaches so rarely that something else is wrong with me to cause it. Except for coffee. Coffee gives me headaches. Not the caffeine.
