Yeh. I don't smoke or drink or do sugar or anything. I'm pretty boring. On paper, I appear very straight edge LOL.
The shadow knows, Abi...

Oh wait! You're probably too young to remember that.

I not only don't take prescription drugs, I don't take over the counter ones either. Not even Tylenol.

You oughta hear the OB freak out when I tell him I'm NOT taking prenatals. And he never remembers from one visit to the next. I always have to explain EVERY time that they make me sick, and YES I'm eating enough whole wheat and veggies.

I'm not even quite 50 yet and I recently got the raised eyebrows (twice in one day) and the repeat of the intake question, "What medicines do you take? None? None AT ALL???? For anything??? No prescriptions, really?"
:gig

All I take regularly is fish oil. I do take maca, but seriously, that is food, not a drug. Well I guess the fish oil is too. In the winter I take vitamin D. That's it. Not bad for 47 1/2 :D

All my friends are on thyroid meds, statins, acid reflux medicine, diabetes medication, etc...

Then they have to take more meds to counteract the side effects of the meds they wouldn't need if they ate a decent diet.

Big pharms runs more than people realize. I'm sure they're behind keeping the food pyramid the way it is, too. Long term illness suits them.
Exactly. Keep people just a little bit sick, make sure they don't know there are other ways, and get rich selling "cures" to diseases and conditions they caused.

I live in NC, & this is the very first time I've heard about this. :( (Will I be in trouble for treating my menopause symptoms with herbal remedies...?)

Altho, should we be surprized...? Didn't the new healthcare bill forbid using your HSA to buy OTC meds without an Rx? Just one more government intrusion... :/

Just to add to the craziness...I saw on the local news last night that a guy in a nearby town was being charged with "practicing engineering without a license" because he did his own traffic study to prove his neighborhood needed a stop sign. :th

When will it STOP??

Sometimes I feel like I'd be better off living in Mexico :/ The state of Tennessee is trying to ban all otc cold medicines and make it to where you have to go get a prescription for everything. It's because of the meth problem....so they say :smack

It still comes down to greedy big business in the pockets of government to get their way and MAKE people buy their products so they can still make a lot of money. Really government officials, senators, congressmen, etc are just prostitutes to the rich who want to stay rich.

The thing is, if people needed a prescription for most of the OTC meds, many people just wouldn't buy them. There are a few OTC meds that I will take, but not on a regular basis. And, if I needed a prescription, I'd just do w/out, or find some other way to deal w/the problem.

I'm feeling more and more glad that I got out when I could. I hurt for my family though, still trapped in the US. :/
Eh, our son has told us about the expats and wants us to retire in Thailand. You know what though? For me, there are still many good reasons to live in the US. Happiness is more a state of mind, and I try not to worry 'bout stuff that may or may not happen. And a lot of them don't happen.
