I have eliminated most processed foods, but my kids still like their crackers, pretzels & chips.

What are the healthiest choices for those indulgences? This week I skipped the Cheezits and grabbed Wheat thins, Triscuits and whole wheat ritz....but really are they any better? I have the ingredients listed below if anyone wants to look and give me feedback, I would appreciate it!

Whole Grain Wheat Thins here is the ingr. list

I make my own crackers and top them with sea salt crystals and seeds such as fennel, dill, celery seed, poppy, sesame, crushed red pepper seed. Usually only one type of seed to a cracker. I use a basic yeast cracker recipe and sometimes add ground flax seed to the dough. If stored in a airtight tin they will stay fresh for 2 weeks, if not they do go stale quickly.

Sure will. I'm not near my notebooks right now, but will post as soon as I can. With measurements and all, lol!

I have tried the homemade crackers and ds is not impressed with them. So I forego them altogether. I went cold turkey for the most part , and still do not buy them. I make cheese biscuits with a homemade biscuit recipe, popcorn, cookies, muffins, bread sticks, have fruit and veggies sticks ready for when they come home from school.

My ds still misses crackers, but he deals with it. Now, he is eating alot more fruit, and I always make sure I have plenty of apple, bananas and grapes on hand (grapes only when they are on sale).

Oh, and for late night snacks while watvching movies, toasted pita breads and tortillas with dip or seasonings are a big hit.

Miss North...I try to limit their cracker/pretzel habit. Offering veggies & dip cheese, yogurt w/ granola, fruit, nuts, english muffin w/pbutter, bagel & cream cheese....but my son, for example, is such a picky eater...he doesn't like a whole lot on that list!

I let them take crackers in their lunch and then he usually munches pretzels at some point in the afternoon. I could make some homemade soft pretzels, they would all love that.

You know what I am realizing? Cooking healthy REAL food, is a full time job!!

I buy store bought pretzels. Won't be giving them up ever. Good snack definitely.

but yes, hot soft pretzels are delish out of the oven! Whooo.....

I buy store bought crackers. I can't and won't make them so I stay with regular old crackers. I do get wheat thins for Nicole who loves those.

We don't eat alot of this stuff...so I say fine for me.
