I will add to this post later but I have to share a story. Ok so was running so late, run out the door to take my daughter to ballet. I had no time to check in on Blossom, so my dad was going to. Anywho he goes to look in on her and she comes out her stall door, still with a baby blanket over her back. He thinks we might have spoiled her a bit. Wish I had a picture. Anywho about to make the last bottle of the day. She had one at 3 that was just a quart of electrolytes and some molassas. Tonight has sulfer pills in it again and of course probiotics, milk replacer and molassas. Yes, I do love molassas. Its great in bread, oatmeal cookies, on top of goat pellets and in calf bottles. love love love the stuff and so versatile.
WOOT!! Ok here is the update:
Blossom just stared at me when I came in but when I pulled that bottle out of my sweater she was up in a flash. She kept nudging me because I was going to slow. She drank the whole bottle and was much sturdier on her feed. She didn't even look shaky at all. She stayed up at least 20 before I left her with her blanky draped over her. She kept pushing me so i would scratch her ears. She is going to be horribly spoiled and not sure how she will react when she has to be a cow, with other cows. She hits a 1000 lbs i don't think I have a blanky big enough honestly. Not to spare anyway. Uggg and keeping it clean. Yea that might be an issue but I will worry about that later. She looks so much better. She coughed twice and she did have a little cloudy snot but not as much and no heavy breathing or rattling in the chest. So each time we check her she is a little bit better and I am so very thankful for that. I felt a bit silly praying for a calf but the answer to the prayer was more than i even asked for. I ended up with a very nice vet, who DOES make barn calls AND who is experienced with goats too. He doesn't even mind looking at chickens. More than I asked for but I am accepting it with a thankful heart.
Today i started doing a rearrange of the house and cleaning like mad. Hopefully will finish tomorrow. I still have 2 barns to clean out too. Small barns but still.....ugg. I hate when it rains right after i cleaned a barn because they track in all kinds of ucky and it has to be cleaned much much sooner. Ah well such is life on a farm, right? I have yet to start working on any of the herb stuff i want to do and my accupressure therapist had to cancel on me. I am really hoping she will still do a class for us after the new year. It would be great to be able to care for the family with this, I really feel the benefits.
Its almost quiet, except for the older kids not wanting to hush and go to sleep. So I am off to fuss a bit and turn out their lights. I pulled out Miracle on 34th street and White Christmas. Maybe i will watch one tonight?
