We bought a vigorous tumbleweed farm in Northern Nevada. So far we haven't found tumbleweed wrangling to be very profitable, so we are working one acre at a time to turn it in to a sustainable family farm. So far We've got gardens, a small orchard, an apiary, and some poultry. The big dream is to get a dairy cow, and some sheep for wool. We have to do a lot of learning and fencing before we can make that a reality. In the meantime the only herd on this farm is a pack of tortoises. Sigh. We'll get there.;)

Tortoises? I'm all ears! J/k @waretrop !

Welcome! I love your sense of humor! I have sheep, and love to tell people how awesome sheep are. Goats are popular on this forum (I have goats too, largely thanks to this forum....). :gig

Welcome to SS from Pa. A pack of torts? Wow, Alice is her own pack. She doesn't need others to be a pack... LOL

What kind of torts are in your pack.

Alice is a beautiful girl!!!! They do have so much personality don't they? I love the hut you built for her is that a year round house or just warm weather?
We have three Russians, one male two females, and a Sulcata. We've gone a little crazy, we started with the one Russian, the other three were rescues, folks just didn't want them any more. So we now have two 5' indoor tables, two 30'x10' outdoor dug in enclosures, and a 6x8, and 3x8 in my greenhouse. We have to keep the male separate, So we have a "bachelor pad" in all three locations. It seems like the more we build for them, the more torts we get- so we build some more! The last one was a friend of the Home Depot guy who looked at my dug-in plan and said "What are you building?" The next time I went in he said "hey tortoise lady! I have a friend..."

you can tell me how awesome sheep are anytime, I am really looking forward to getting them. I want to raise for fiber, but it does get pretty hot here, any breed you would suggest"?
