I didn't realize that there were others like me out there! I haven't gotten the chance to be as SS as many of you out there, but we do enough to baffle certain friends. We have chickens (a LOT of chickens), a decent veggie garden, we can/freeze the harvest that we can't use right away, make our own baby food, bread/bread products, mustard, pickles, do as much of our own home and yard projects as possible, etc. There are so many things I would like to learn to do, and it's so refreshing to discover this place!

:welcome There's plenty of us that are baffling to the rest of the world. Sounds like you'll fit right in!

Welcome - it sounds like you'll fit right in! I too have lots and lots of chickens.... what are some of the things you'd like to add to your "self-sufficient" list?

Welcome to the land of misfits and family weirdos! It is a comfort to know you aren't alone in this isn't it? SS is a great forum, lots of good information here. Thanks to SS I now grind my own wheat and corn for bread and cornmeal. I bought a Family Grain Mill and I love it! Also, thanks to SS I bought an Excalibur dehydrator and used it last year. Dehydrated tomatoes make a great snack and taste great in lots of recipes. I live in town, have a garden in the front yard, chickens in the backyard and can, freeze and dehydrate the extra. You will love it here!
