Well I see I'm awful late to the party. Rebel, I crawled over here with my "mutt" goats and find the company is great! :welcome

I think with the subject of goats, people tend to get opinionated. Folks over here at SS are trying to do things without tons of outside help and would rather find a natural solution if there is one. If there isn't, then someone with a little more experience can let you know, but we like to share ideas that worked.

I had a similar thing happen to me "over there" because I didn't want to spend an arm and a leg to get my goaties bred and pretty much got told I had no business breeding my goat. I ended up spending NOTHING getting them bred through ideas picked up at this forum. You took a lot more heat than I had to and were very polite and gracious about it...seems like people were judging you without hearing the whole story. Dontcha hate that? :hugs

Thanks so much everyone! I was really trying to be calm and give people the benefit of the doubt over there ya know? Yes I DO raise goats! I think they are very awesome animals even though they are a challenge sometimes, that is part of the reason they are fun I guess. They each have their own personalities. We also have chickens which my children and I hatched last April. We hatched 26 out of 36. That was our first time hatching and it was very cool!! We also have about 35 black angus beef cattle which I don't do anything with unless forced LOL. I am slightly nervous as to the differences in weight between me and them. I am only 5'1 and petite. Anyway we have 25 dairy goats that are either French Alpine, American Alpine or mini-Alpine with exception of my first goat that is a dairy mutt and her doe kid from three years ago that is even more of a dairy mutt than her mom LOL. I am glad to be here and hope that we can all help each other out with our "issues" when they arise. I also have five children ages 8,6,5,2, and 5 months and I homeschool the older three. We crop, hay, and animal farm and I can produce from our gardens to sustain us. We are very earthy people and enjoy working on our farm, playing in the dirt and thanking God for every little bit of his creation we can enjoy. Have a great day everyone, I look forward to learning more about all of you. :weee

Welcome to SS! Hope you like it here.

Please consider that what happened at BYH is being dealt with. Members don't see the work done behind the scenes. ;) I see now on the thread you have several apologies, and hope that helps.

Welcome aboard!!
I have learned so very much from the folks on this forum. As said before, there are no stupid questions, ask away!!

And remember the wise words some great woman on this forum said to me once (Thanks OFG, truer words and all that).
"Goats=Crazy" I don't put anything past my two now.

Hurray for dairy mutts!

Wow...I'm really late....

welcome, welcome...we don't bite, unless you ask us to...

Sorry, just couldn't help myself.

This place is like a second home for me...I can't wait to see what's going on with everyone and I am in the midst of chicken butchering, hunting season, and trying to get the sale of my house wrapped up so I can get my goats home (got 3 nigis coming, 2 of whom are preggers).

I look forward to hearing more from you, you sound like you'll fit in just fine!!! I may hit you up for homeschool tips....I just started with my 5 yr old although we really aren't doing much in the way of "school" yet.
