Hi, I'm new here, although I've been thinking about joining for a while. Yes, I basically just copied and pasted my little bio below. 😂

I'm a young woman in South Carolina, aspiring to be a self-sufficient farmer and herbalist. Right now, I'm still in my mother's home, and we're raising goats, chickens, and more plants than I can keep track of (that's my sister's job).

How do I envision myself someday, ideally? A busy, suntanned, sunbleached farm wife, caring for goats, sheep, horses, bees, rabbits, and an enormous garden. And a houseful of suntanned children, of course. (And on my free time—if I have any—spinning, weaving, quilting, knitting, crocheting, etc...) Will I ever do all that? Probably not...I'm just saying that's my dream. Call it boring if you like. 😁

Oh, and I guess I'd better explain that username. I was having a conversation with a friend with whom I share a passionate interest in Scottish history about the Scottish origins of the term "hillbilly". (Look it up; it's fascinating. And we prefer the Cameronian explanation, thank you.) He said he'd decided he was a hillbilly. I pointed out that he lives on 100 acres of swamp land in Aiken County, so he cannot be a hillbilly. He's a swampbilly. Today I realized that I live in the sandy Midlands, so I guess that makes me a sandbilly. Hence the username.

I know. I know.

Welcome from east Texas. Hooray for you for reaching out for your dream! It’s not boring at all. I raise hair sheep because I didn’t want the work of shearing. But I’ve dreamed of a wool wether or two, learning to spin, knit, crochet and gifting my family of horrendous ugly gifts! NO! I don’t have time for that! LOL

You will fit right in here. You have found your people!
